Santa Barbara County Memories
Does anyone remember "Santa Claus Lane" on Highway 101? Is it still there? I remember that at one time there was even a "Church of Satan" located there!

The offramp is still called Santa Clause Lane, but it's not what it use to be. The giant Santa Claus has been moved to the Oxnard area, if you're driving Southbound on 101 it could be seen from the freeway on the left hand side. But it is a shame it's not at the original location. That "church" does appear to still be there.

I'm baffled by Santa Claus... because isn't San the male form of saint in spanish, and Santa the female form. Santa Claus is a man! What gives???

Santa Barbara County Memories....
Going to Solvang in the winter time. Drinking Hot Apple Cider, looking at all the shops and of course, having to get a pound of fudge before going home.
Going to the Big Yellow House restaurant in Summerland.
Going to the wineries in the summer.
Going to the Art Walk on the beach in Santa Barbara and getting cartoon pictures drawn of us.
Oh, and going to the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Is the Big Yellow House still there? I went there for a meal with my first husband for our 1st anniversary. Someone told me that it was supposed to be haunted.

The traffic lights on U.S. 101 at Anacapa, State and Chapala. Fondly remember the advisory signs for those waiting to cross or turn left on 101 -- "this light could remain red for more than five minutes, suggest turning engine off."

Wow so there are no more red lights going through town?!!??!! I also remember Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria. I used to work for the Sambo's corporate office there. Does anyone remember Sambo's restaurants?

Ha ha, I know Cre8! Actually I did move from Ventura to Bakersfield in 1990 (left there in 1994 for the east coast.) I guess I never made it back to Santa Barbara over the years!
