No offense, but compared to the Bay Area, every other region in California, is well, an underperformer.
This is evident in the Bay Area's far higher income levels and educational attainment levels and Per Capita GDP figures.
Im not saying the Bay Area is better, but this communist worker's paradise statement is quite inaccurate considering how much wealthier the Bay Area is than everywhere else.

Leave it as one state. People wanting to isolate themselves from people who are different are the problem. The variety of the state is what makes it great.
Besides, the state has a lovely shape, iconic almost :P
If Cali were to split in anyway, I think it should break off from the US. It's those other 49 dragging us down

I'm going with the North, South and Legal categories to break up the state! Leave the North to handle it's natural resurces and keep them (charge SoCal for robbing them) Keep the far left in SoCal to fund all the free programs it so dearly wants to have, and only give services and voting priveledges to the legals to choose as the want. Then I think the tri-states would feel better about themselves.

Bear in mind that some people will start wailing "Marxism!" and "Commie!" at anything even marginally to the left of Rush Limbaugh.

And oftentimes "more closely" is not good enough. Europe is "more closely" aligned with "Communism" than P.R. China, yet Europe still has private property rights, etc. BTW, yes, P.R. China is now heavily capitalistic and has no more "no-strings attached" free education or free health care.

That is exactly the point of the U.S. Senate - The House and Senate are a compromise between the "big" states and the "small" states.

Keep as one state.
Make San Diego and OC a part of Mexico.
