I'm really interested in finding out about the quality of public schools in Napa and Sonoma Counties. I've been on the websites that show test scores, etc.. (school matters and great schools.com) but would love to hear about the parents/teacher's personal views on schools in these areas (elem., middle, and High school). Anyone?

thank you!

Petaluma public schools are very good in Sonoma County. This is an excellent K-8 public school:
Mary Collins School at Cherry Valley

I grew up in SOnoma County. As for schools, may be I'm biased, but I would go private schools. I attended St. Rose and I thought I received an excellent education even though there were 38 students to 1 teacher in the classroom. After that, I attended Cardinal Newman. As for public high schools, in Santa Rosa, stay away from Piner and Elsie Allen at all costs. Maria Carillo could be a good option. Its about 12 years old and located in the Rincon Valley portion of Santa Rosa.

You should check into Benicia....they have the BEST schools. It's solano county, but you really can't find much better in terms of community and school systems. There are a few elementary schools, but NONE are bad. They all have rocking scores.

My 12 year old has went through the elementary schools, and is now in middle school. When we moved here, they didn't have room for her in the school she should go to, so she had to begin at another elementary school. I can say without a doubt, that we have been thinking of moving and I have been looking at houses and school systems all over the bay. I cannot find ANY that are on par with Benicia other than Pleasant Hill and San Ramon.

If you care about your childrens quality of life and education....you've got to give Benicia a very very VERY serious look.
