American Canyon pros and cons
I'm curious about American Canyon because of it's proximity to Napa but lower housing costs. I can't get a very good feel for it based on what I've read and seen - does anyone have any descriptions of it or opinions on it, good or bad?
How are the schools?
Does it feel 'empty' because of the newer houses that are now sitting vacant due to the housing market?
thanks for any input.

Karelise,
Are you moving from a different state or just another in area in CA...
American Canyon is about 10 miles south of Napa has evolved over the last 50 years
from tiny place with a school and railroad switch station to what it is now...I were you and were really wanting to know the what its about, I would go there and visit
Mid City Nursery, they have been there since it all happened and they meaning the owners could help you out..Anytime you can talk to the locals you get a real handle on what makes an area tick...
My mom spent her teaching career there when all this was happening and drove the 10 miles from when it was the nice highway it is now....
Good luck

Hi - thanks!
Moving from L.A. (I have lived in Oakland and Berkeley before but that was about 12 years ago). We're looking at it because it's obviously cheaper than Napa but from the few pictures I can find it does look a little sterile. I'm not sure if that is accurate or not. Not crazy about what I've seen as far as Napa schools so that's another reason why I'd like to find out ore about American Canyon schools.

By the way, we're also looking at Corvallis, Bend, and Camas/Vancouver Wash. Not meaning to post this on a CA. site - I just noticed that you were located in Oregon.
