The first time I had an In N Out burger was in San Ramon, CA a few years ago on a work trip. I must admit the place is overhyped because I was severely dissapointed after first bite. I threw away half the burger; one of the worst ever.

So after boycotting the place in my next several trips to CA, I finally ate again with co-workers that raved about it. I skeptically sat down and expected the gross taste again, but was pleasantly surprised. Good burger! First time must have been a fluke/bad burger. It's about mid range for fast food burgers in my book. Better than McD's or BK. But far below Whataburger.

I see that both INO and Culver's are in Mesa and Phoenix AZ. I think I'll take a poll on the AZ forum. I love both places, I'm just curious to see more opinions.

My first INO was in a big casino in Vegas (MGM maybe?) in the mid 90's. Best shake I ever had...

You are forgiven, my child. Say three "double-doubles" and pass through the drive-thru lane twice during your next INO visit and you'll be forgiven. But don't do it again.

In N Out burger is like Swedish burger and swedish dressing. I LOVE IT! It remembers me with Swedish burger when I ate it my first time.
Hope they had In N Out in NJ

Can't remember the first In N Out for me, I think it was the one in the Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys area. Always a good burger with great fries and a reasonable price. I'm not sure what it is but In N Out is always popular with women. You will find alot more ladies at In N Out than you would in a McDs, Wendys, etc.

Whataburger in Texas has a different type of burger but it is one of those things I have to get when I'm back in TX. Newer Whataburgers aren't as good but the originals with the high pitched orange and white roof are my favs. There is a Whataburger orphan in Oxnard, same original building with same decor as the old ones in Texas. I think the owner had a franchise but it's no longer part of the chain. For years the name was Lot-A-Burger, then it changed to Just-A-Burger. Now it's known as A-Burger. Same burger style and taste as the original. Whenever I'm in the Nard I make a stop at the A-Burger.

We used to have another one in the area, in Port Hueneme at Ventura Road and Pleasant Valley. That Whataburger is now the location for a Taco Bell. The A-Burger on Oxnard Blvd in Oxnard is still a great place to get some food. I first went there 33 years ago and it is still going strong, although it is no longer part of the franchise. I noticed Whataburger's in Arizona. I just thought that they had all gone out of business.

There are some in my area. I have actually not been to one yet, but I plan to soon.

Here is a photo of the closest one to me, in the Porter Ranch Town Center:

To be honest, I do not like In 'n Out burgers. Everybody else I know who has eaten there adores them. My sister-in-law insists on eating there every time she comes out from Virginia, several times during the visit. When I go to In 'n Out I get a cheese sandwich, which is yummy, and no, I am not a vegetarian. What I just love are their shakes. Heaven! Looks like I am the only person in CA who doesn't like the burgers...I hope I don't get kicked off the list for being such a weirdo.

Your not alone, personally I like the burgers but I'm not crazy about them like so many are. I haven't even ate there in years, so I obviously wouldn't go out of my way for one. They are just OK in my opinion, I really don't eat fast food burgers that much anymore anyway.
