Property taxes may be lower but you also have a state income tax and the Melosroos tax however you spell it. A host of other fees as well. Way more expensive to register vehicles here etc.

I'm leaving in 11 days and my reasons are to get more bang for my buck as far as housing. And just ready for a change after 23 years!

Other.
I'm planning on transferring to a university in/around New York City; my reason for wanting to leave is because I was born and raised in Southern California and have lived here my entire life. I'm looking for a change of environment, and right now I'm wanting to experience the busy city life of the east coast. I'm still very young, so I can easily move on a whim since I don't really have any obligations.

Myself: I left Calif in 1989 for Arizona due to in part to the (illegal) immigrants as well as the overcrowding in SoCal.
Now if things do not turn around----------and fast here in Az I may return home. This time I would be looking at the Hi-Desert (Yucca Valley area).

I left CA in 1994 when I was 11 because my dad's work transferred us, and I see that the grass is not always greener on the other side, and Texas has more than plenty of its own problems with illegal immigration. I plan to return home to SoCal in the next year or so.
As for California being so Democratic, well, it used to be Republican until the religious right took over the party, as did I. Maybe when you dump the religious right and show more concern for things like the environment and science, maybe we will return to your party. It is your dumping of the moderates for religious extremists that is making your party fare so badly in elections of late, with more losses assured in Congress and possibly the presidency.

I agree.
If McClintock would have just shut up about abortion, he could be Governor right now, and a good one too.

My thoughts exactly! I chose the home ownership option, but really, if 'all of the above' were an option, I bet that would win hands down!
