No, not really. You've been given the best advice. We're not magicians.

Alternatives:
- don't move to SLO
- find a telecommute job
- find a different job / industry
- work for the college / city / state / utility

You don't seem to like the answer you are getting. SLO is basically nowheresville when it comes to tech. That should not be a surprise to you. Smalltown America does not have tech jobs... that is the reason everyone lives in big cities in the first place.

In addition to the alternatives already suggested, consider living in any of the towns in between SB and SLO (5 cities, Santa Maria, etc.) and finding work at Vandenberg AFB, Alan Hancock CC, and the hospitals. For the base, check some of the defense subcontractors websites (Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, InDyne, etc.) and USA Jobs.com.

This area isn't as much of a business hub as the big cities are. That's not to say that IT jobs aren't needed, but they're harder to find.

Default Finding a job in/around San Luis Obispo

My husband is also having the HARDEST time finding a job. He's looking for like an admin assistant job, has 5 years of experience and a 4.0!!!

NO ONE is emailing him back. He just isn't sure what to do at this point.

We've been to slojobs.com and he's looked at ASH, Cuesta College and Cal Poly (some of which he is still under consideration).

Anyway, is just terrible here or what??

Oh, and I forgot federal govt. also (VAFB). I didn't lose you, look at a map and do a little research. Have you ever been here? some of these other cities are similiar to SLO in weather only. Living in Santa Maria and working at VAFB is going to be a different kind of life than living in SLO and working at Cal Poly.

after visiting over the weekend i can say that i really enjoyed slo but i don't think i'd consider living there for a while. guess i'll keep looking. i think i'll be checking out santa cruz next. bigger city with more jobs. i hate to admit it but i suppose i like the amenities of a city larger than slo.

very inspiring place though and i really dig that you can get anywhere in town on a bicycle or on foot. i really liked the view at the top of bishop peak and the beaches/trails at los osos are amazing. incredible weather too. i'd love to be able to leave my doors and windows open like that. gaah.

Santa Cruz has jobs?

You're gonna be commuting to San Jose every day....
