I've spent some time reading some of the job postings on winejobs.com to get an idea for where the majority of jobs are, and the requirements for the different areas. There are not many in Temecula, which is close to where I live. Don't forget Oregon has a bunch of wineries, and Washington is growing too. Napa/Sonoma though do have the majority of jobs. I'm interested in that field as well. Need a change. Good luck to you.

Several of the winemakers I know started out with no formal training but worked their way up after doing all the menial chores. A degree isn't a guarantee of employment. You may want to look in the central valley at the larger winery operations such as Gallo in Modesto Delicato, near Stockton and Woodbridge near Lodi.

karelise is on a distinguished road
thanks everybody.

I've been reading winejobs.com too and the majority of jobs there are in Napa/Sonoma. Some of the Oregon and Washington wineries advertise but are basically looking for student interns ( i.e. free labor) which is not possible at age 40 with two kids.

Thanks again for everyone's input!
