I think the stigma of California started yrs & yrs ago, when everyone on TV & in the movies was filmed in Hollywood. All the celebtrities lived in Hollywood. Everyone wanted to live in Hollywood, which of course is in CA. Today, CA is still known for having the best weather (or one of the best weather states). We may have to endure an earthquake every once in a while & some rain & some snow depending on where in CA you are, but we don't have to endure tornadoes, blizzards, tropical storms, or hurricanes.

I've only been to San Diego and the areas around it, but I really loved what I saw when I was there. California is a beautiful state full of beautiful people. I hope to visit the northern part of the state someday as I'm sure I would love it there as well.

Beautiful people? San Diego is a small sliver of the California pie.

I love California, but I just don't think it's that great. The Hollywood mindset really annoys me too.
The Hollywood mindset really annoys me too. I don't think many are aware of how much diversity there are in California in terms of culture. When I went to visit Fresno State University 10 years ago, some of the college professors there thought me and my group of friends were all surfer boys because we lived near the coast lol.

I love California, but I'm approaching at a stage in my life where I want experience something different outside of California.

Call me cookoo, but when I lived in Las Vegas, one or twice a month I would just go over to Primm and then across the border just to be in California, I love it that much.

This is true. You've got to have the job skills to make more money or, you're probably not going to live comfortably here.

No matter how many people move out of state ... there's just as many people with money who will pay to live here no matter what the cost.

That's just the unfortunate reality of the situation.

I know. Idaho is Idaho. I am sure there are some vast differences between the north and south. If any. Here, I can go to Huntington Beach on Main Street, dance and listen to an alternative band. The next night, I can go to Commerce near LA and listen to salsa and tejano-flamenco music where people are doing all of these Spanish dances I never even seen or heard of. This is all in Southern CA, only a county away! That is a little too much diversity for me. It is not for everyone.

It depends on what industry you work in. People have college education and extensive job skills. But, competition and high prices are keeping them from getting ahead and becoming successful. Maybe it is better to live somewhere where they can stetch their income and build a savings account instead of living check to check like most middle class Californians.

This is part of the problem. Not all of CA is like San Diego. Visit Fresno, or better yet, the smaller central valley farm towns on a 100 degree day in the summer, or a foggy day in the winter, and I don't think you'd make such a general statement.
