Default Thoughts on Oceanside.. To live there or not to live there...

Greetings,

AS a resident of hell (Utah, that is), The coast of California seems ideal in terms of climate and culture. With that in mind, I'm looking into cities to live and the affordable nature of Oceanside (300-400k) seems appealing. Forgive my question, but why is Oceanside affordable? It seems nicely situated in terms of location and I would have expected homes to average 600-800k. Am I missing something or is the jaunt to LA/SD too far for most to consider to commute? Would it be reasonable to live in Oceanside for a daily commute to Carlsbad?

Thanks!

O'side has a lot of nasty areas with gangs and crime. It also has nice areas. It is also very far out.

Military town with a huge percentage of Illegal Aliens. There are still nice areas in it.

I say live there, if you find the right neighborhood which isn't as hard as some people will lead you to believe, you'll love it.

Oceanside is a very easy commute to Carlsbad.

It's a military town with a lot of bad areas. There are also some great areas. You just need to make sure you do your research.
