Last I heard, Pacoima was full of gangs. The crime rate there is 30% higher than the L.A. County average. Please see this link: http://lalife.com/Pacoima
Isn't there another city she could live in? I'm sure she could find somewhere safer. What made her decide on Pacoima in the first place?

She told me she was tired of living in the boring midwest and heard Pacoima was a great place to retire.

Tom...
Convince her otherwise.. it is so full of gang violence life is unbearable
I could not, and would not, ever let any of my family move anywhere near there...
its in LAPD's San Fernando division area,, I believe Valley Station... dont even consider it for her,, she would be victimized and live as a shut in
there is nothing I can say redeemable about the area
end of story
this is representaive of the area... more the norm than exception

My dad was a L.A.P.D officer and Pacoima was not safe 40 years ago. Please do not let her move there, or even drive through there. 30 years ago my husband and I got lost and got off the freeway to see if we could find some help and a good place to eat. We saw two motorcycle cops at the curb so we drove up to ask them. They laughed so hard they could not answer us, just pointed to the freeway and said go, go now.

Pacoima=Hispanic gangs, illegals, trashy streets, graffiti, and overpopulated apartments. ....I'd rather live in Santa Ana.

DEFINENTLY NO, there may be ok parts, but the first statement. There's a huge latino gang called Pacoima 13 or "Pacas." Your grandmother should move elswhere, but Pacoima has some very rough edges.

How is it that you know so much about the AV and nothing about Pacoima?
Give "Grandma" my best.

JustPassinThru, I thought of the possibility of "trolldom", but these posts aren't stirring up anything, so I'm leaving this thread alone for now. Thanks for the heads up, though!
