La Times Propoganda Machine
The La Times Subscription Continues To Decrease Because Of Thier Pro Socialist, Pro Immigration, Left Leaning Views. While I Was Living In La I Was Shocked By How They Would Attempt To Write Stories To Influence Election Outcomes. I Thought Stuff Like That Only Happened In Communist Countries With The Press Was Controlled By The Gov.

I'm guessing you haven't read the San Francisco Chronicle.. (holy god, is that liberal propaganda.) I don't really read the LA Times too much. I prefer the OC Register.

It would work great as rag paper for washing bugs off my windshield.... or for my bird to do his biz on...
In all seriousness... it seems papers like it.. and other ones..N.Y. Tmes etc.. are losing subscribers in droves... does that make them step back?,, no it makes the fringe of the fringe "writers".. and Im being nice using that word,, even more frenetic in spewing hatred. Makes me wonder what they would write about if they lived in a third world country and really experienced oppression.
L.A. still caters to a goofy liberal crowd,,, driven by hollywood types... and if they arent a screwed up bunch, I dont know what is. Working around L.A. as a copper you get to see all the weirdos and their agendas. At Malibu you come in contact with these people everyday.. they live for sensationalism and the media loves to oblidge..
In Barbara Streisand's home there are pictures of her all over her walls.. everywhere.. tells you a little about the person.. This is the kind of person that drives the media in L.A..... goofyland.. and its not because Disney is there
Vote with your dollars

I agree that there is much fluff printed in the LA Times, enough to make someone not interested in entertainment and consumer drivel sigh, but in all fairness that's not the whole substance of the newspaper, and readers dictate the interests that drive the content. That said -
The LA Times has staff journalists who have won national awards for investigative reporting. Although I no longer read the LA Times myself since leaving Southern California, if I read about a noteworthy article penned by someone from the LA Times, I'll search it out and read it on the internet if possible. I've read some great reporting on Central America from LA Times journalists in the recent past, without which I would have a much poorer political grasp of the situation down there. This is but one example.
If it's liberal thinking that you hate so fervently then you had better avoid the largess of print and video media that might offend your rigid sensibilities. A thought - if you want to expand your understanding of where we were and where we're headed as a country you might find the (gasp!) New Yorker Magazine archives a rich source of American thinking since the 1920's, but maybe you folks think that E.B.White, John Updike and Ernest Hemingway are representative of what is wrong with the social consciousness which is part of our American psyche, and that perhaps we should be satisfied with the writings found in Reader's Digest and Field & Stream?

The too-liberal reasoning behind people dropping their subscriptions is tiny at best. Bigger problems are distribution, time and the Internet. The LA Times and other major papers will exist but in dramatically different forms in the next 10-20 years.

You'd be surprised, they don't do well with red folks. I'm a Republican, but never engage in politics in a flame war manner, but many people have personally told me they have cancelled their subscription because the paper was too liberal. You are right about the other aspects.

This is sooooo true. I won't even accept one when they try to
give me one free outside of stores when they are trying to
boost subscriptions. We always tell them why too.

There are also many people who cancel their subscription because they think the LA Times is too conservative.

There aren't too many "red folks" in L.A. To give you an idea, there are parts of L.A. where the Libertarian candidate Badnarik got more votes than Bush in 2004.
