Ok, I am still homesick. It can get warm in Paradise in the summer, but I am in AZ so it would feel darn right chilly to me now. You can get up into the 90's but it usually will cool off in the evenings. How I miss that breeze now. They are both charming towns.

One of the joys of living in Paradise and Magalia area is just as the sun goes down temperatures drop off quickly. Nothing like the valley heat that lingers all night long making it hard to survive without air conditioning. The cool evening breeze beckons you outdoors to enjoy your surroundings in and around Paradise. Hard to tell I love Paradise and living here is awesome.

i lived in Paradise for years and much preferred it to Magalia partially becuase getting in and out has really only one two lane route and when it snows... you're stuck 'til they plow it and if there was a fire.. you would be doomed. I think that Magalia has a bigger issue with experiencing bad neighbors if you move to the west side of the Skyway, and a better chance of undesirables living next door to you than living in Paradise. A lot of renters were priced out of their market when the housing boom happened and everyone headed for the hills or Oroville.
I would vote Paradise over Magalia also for proximity to hospitals and Medical services, shopping and restaurants. Also Magalia doesn;t have its own police dept. It is patrolled by the sherriffs and or Highway Patrol for back up if and when they go up there.. they go up there pretty much when needed. You are on your own for a long wait if you need a cop. Fire services tho are excellent up there.
I would go Paradise all the way again if I didn't have to commute to Chico on a daily basis. Doing that drive now after leaving Paradise makes me wonder how I lived there doing that for so long and my answer would be the beautiful trees and the awesome people and the excellent services, stores, antiquing and the great school teachers.
Our fathers and our 2 mother in laws live there, moving up there after being in the Bay Area for too long and logistically they have never been happier in their lives.
Hope this info helps and sorry i'm such a downer on Magalia. paradise has its spots too.. but not like up that hill off a two lane road with TOO many residents to evacuate if needed.

I used to live in the cabins at Buzzards Roost across the river from Whiskey Flat, loved it, the outhouse had a great view up the canyon, great fishing, and an easy commute to Chico and back each day.
Bit warm for me in the summer though.

I bought a home in Magalia a year ago. I spent the year prior trying different realtors and found I liked Real Estate Solutions the best. The Kerrs were wonderful to work with and helped me every step of the way. They found me my dream house at an affordable price, got me great financing, and made sure everything was perfect. I would recommend them to all.

Jobs and rentals in Paradise
Hello all. I have never done this before, so bear with me! I am a single mother of a 2 and a 4 yr old. I am a massage therapist, and also have many years experience in the restaurant business. I am thinking if relocation to Paradise and am wondering about job prospects in above mentioned areas. I would like to work at a chiropractors office doing massage, and then maybe a couple nights per week serving or bartending in a nice restaurant.
I am also wondering what the rental market is like? What is the average price for a 2 or 3 bedroom, are their many available, best areas to look, etc...
Also, is this area a good place for young children? Will I be able to make friends easily with other parents with young kids?
Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I am looking into moving into Paradise Chico area but I have heard that its a small minded community and they do not let outsiders in, especially if you are not the right race. Is there any truth to this?
Any information about the attitudes and community of Paradise would be appreciated!
