Possible relocation in the Magalia/Paradise area
I live in the Central Valley and am looking to relocate. Housing is very expensive here, was wondering why housing is so much cheaper in these areas. Can anyone give me information about the towns, climate, housing, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated....have a great day livncali4nia

Greetings. We moved to AZ 2 years ago from Magalia/ Paradise. We lived there for 15 years while we raised our kids and then they graduated from Chico State. You don't indicate your age or if you have small children. If you do have small kids, it is a great place to raise them. The schools are not too bad and the crime is low compared to most of CA. The housing is affordable in Magalia. Two bed's around $225,000 and up to 3 beds, $240 ish and up. It is a buyers market there right now. We (hubby is an architect/builder) designed and built quite a few homes in the area. Magalia is quaint and I preferred it over Paradise. It gets more snow up there. Paradise is full of things to do if you like art. The art center there was my favorite place to hang out. Shopping is Albertsons, Safeway, Holiday Mkts. Chico is only 25 to 30 min down the ridge and it has everything a big city has as well as a historic downtown with awesome restaurants. Paradise has a very good hospital. You can private email me and I can tell you which real estate office to use and which to avoid (our first mistake when relocating). Best of luck to you and your.

Home in Magalia, CA.
I have a home for sale in Magalia, Ca. if anyone is interested. It is reasonably priced compared to other smaller homes in the area. It is a very well built 2002 manufactured home on 1.3 acres. It has large rooms and is 1792 square feet of living space. Also has a larger garage attached and a large deck. Been here since it was new. Looking to sell for approximately 265,000 or there abouts. This one is worth the look.....Good luck in hunting for a great house for the price....email me at salignof@yahoo.com

Not to put a bummer on Paradise. I lived in Paradise most of my life from 11-32 years of age. I love the town there's much to do, but it has changed a lot. When moving into a certain area check out whats next door this town is meth crazy!! I just got back from there and Oroville used to have the BIG PROBLEM now Paradise is seeing a huge influx. It was becoming that way before I left 15 years ago, but I can still go to my old stomping grounds and score on any street corner (if I were a user)and the same losers I went to school with are still using and selling some people never change.
You can't get away from this evil drug, but be aware of your surroundings. It's a great place to live and beautiful. The druggies are just ruining it and they hide where you wouldn't expect them to be!!
It has some of the best rivers around and a must see is the Honey Run Road be careful it's skinny and windy, but OH the beauty!!

Hello - Jill - saw your response regarding Magalia. Curious about best realtor as you mentioned. How much snow apx. yearly. We are nearing retirement and want to be close enough to kids in San Jose. Any information you would offer to provide about living in the area very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sue

Dear Motlycrew, we are looking to relocate back to California from Washington. We are very interested in which realestate people to use. We were there just last week and went through prudetial office in Chico as a get to know the area tour. she did not take us to anything that had a Remax sign on it in the Magailia area. Please give any info you can.
Thanks Gailc

I used to live at a place called Buzzard's Roost, across the river and up the hill from Whiskey Flat which is along the West Branch below Magalia. I liked the area, the summers were a bit too hot, the winters were great. It would snow sometimes, but never enough to need chains. The swimming holes in the river are world class, and if you get away from the road, so is the trout fishing.
When you are looking it over drive up the road to Stirling City and Inskip, both I think would be great places to live

Paradise is growing up and home prices are going down...
Homebuyers in the market for Paradise real estate realize that this area offers some of the most appealing and sought-after Homes, Equestrian estates and Rural properties in Northern California. From quarter acre lots to twenty acre horse properties, our Paradise has them all. Under the canopy of tall pine tree-lined streets of Magalia and Paradise, lies a wealth of affordable homes, and home prices are dropping.
Within miles, lies the the serene and untamed wilderness of the Gold Country and Sierra Mountains where daily we are presented with brilliant sunrises over Oroville Lake. Paradise is the gateway for getaways and renowned with reasons you never want to buy a home anywhere else in the world.
Magalia is known for its 54 pound gold nugget, spectacular retreats and areas of particular interest can be found right here, within the reach of Paradise/Magalia Home owners. Homes are tucked away like hidden exceptional jewels, amidst the forested area.
For those with an appreciation for a more leisurely pace, Paradise/Magalia may well in fact provide an opportunity for rural living at its best. With breathtaking views of rolling hills adorned with a colorful array of sweet-smelling wildflowers, living in Paradise or Magalia, offers a taste of the good life. Okay, so you know... I love Paradise and Magalia.
