Does downtown San Luis Obispo need more franchise retail clothing stores?
Does downtown SLO need more stores like the ones in the Court Street Centre?
Currenly, the cities of SLO and Pismo Beach lack 100 designer clothing stores and 100 mall clothing stores. We have a little bit of outlet stores, a bit of designer stores, and most recently a bit of mall clothing stores in the outlet mall.
But does the county need more or not? Mr. Copeland proposes to build a another clothing centre like the Court Street Centre on palm street along with a hotel (chinatown project).
I really don't care if we get more clothing stores or not, but I'm interested in hearing other people's opinion.

SLO put a drive thru ban in place back 25 years ago.

Exhaust and also litter. There was a belief at the time (true or false) that eliminating drive thrus would stop people from throwing trash out of car windows.

I think there are plenty of clothing stores in slo. I can always find what I need and if there isn't something exactly like I want, I either make it, or order it off the internet. I prefer parks and beaches over stores anyday.

Yes, SLO won't allow them. Now wait a minute. In regard to the other posts. I remember when that all went down. Car exhaust and litter may may have been mentioned in the debate, but that wasn't the main reason why. From what I remember. The city wanted to eliminate drive-thru's because they felt this would force tourists or travellers to stop in town. Meaning, someone passing through couldn't just get of the highway, go through the drive-thru, and get right back on the highway and be on their way again. They felt this would force the person to stay in town to eat, and then they might decide to stay longer, check out the town and spend more money. I think it's completely ridiculous, but I believe that was the #1 reason.

Nope!
Abercombie & Fitch, The Gap, Express, Victoria's Secret, Banana Republic, Chico's, Ross, Talbots, Sephora...and another one on Monterey Street that I can't think of the name at the moment. There are plenty of local stores that sell high end/quality clothing that you don't have to worry about looking like a clone walking down the street if you buy and wear something from them.

Traffic itself was another reason, I've always heard...
