Default Moving from one over priced city to another?? opnions Please!!

Well i currently live in Traverse city Michigan. Way up north in the cold and 4 feet of snow. I have lived here for about 8 years and i really need a change. The enonomy in Michigan as a whole is going downhill and with traverse city being a torruist city, everything is rediclously over priced. Jobs dont pay very well and its hard to maintane hours and a steady pay check.
But after some time of saving some money, i have decided to check out citys in california. I have allways wanted to live out there, Music is my life and the scene out there is so big, not to mention the economy is better and jobs pay more. BUT its also high priced!
Now i did some research and id like to live in a place like Orange County, its not too far from LA and the big cities and your still an ok drive from the ocean. Ill be taking a vacation the 11th of march to go out there and scope it out. But are there any opnions on where a single music loving guy should live and not have to scrape for ends meat out there? and how hard is it to find a decent job and a place to live? I heard alot of ups and downs from locals on other threads but from the way it sounds its no diffrent than where im living right now. Id just like to see the sun more than 50 days out of the year and not have to shovel snow. plus i have lived in Michigan and england all my life so this would be somthing new!
So give me some suggestions please! anyone! locals, people on vacation whatever! Mucho Thankso!!

No offense, but if you think Traverse City is overpriced, Orange County is going to blow your mind. If you do come here, expect to scrape by - in fact embrace it - because otherwise you will be sorely, sadly disappointed in how little your money gets you in SoCal.

Well I just looked at realtors dot com under Traverse City and there are some beautiful homes for well above a million dollars. If you have one of those homes, then yes you could afford California. Now you will not get that amount of land near the ocean in Calif like you can get in Traverse City on the lake or your house may not be 4000 or above square feet but you will get a nice home with a ocean view if that is what you want. Now if you have that 14 million dollar home that I saw listed in Traverse City then the world is your oyster.
Good Luck in your search!
