I should be ashamed but I am sitting here laughing my head off! Oh this forum has made my day- I was bummed because I had set out to paint my house today but can't take the chance now due to possible rain. I hate when things don't turn out the way I planned so what an interesting way to forget about my problem! I mean- if I had a friend who told me to stay in Compton it would definalty be worse.

I suppose the same friend might suggest you visit Watts while you are out here. Just make sure you leave you family with a good life insurance plan and leave a copy of your will.

I also have been laughing my head off, not to make fun of the original post, Im not, whoever filled your head about compton, had to have been joking with you, and it was not very nice if it was a joke. It is no place for you to be spending time in. three's company the show your talking about was set in Santa Monica.

Vasinger, Compton is in a very poor area where they have a lot of gang violence. I don't know how old you are but many people from out of state remember Compton for its riots. The evening news has a story about a young person being shot or killed there another way almost every week. However, the bullets aren't just reserved for the young. Whoever told you to stay in Compton when you visit LA from Virginia was playing a mean, cruel joke on you. Unless you are familiar with the area, it is the type of place that you try to avoid whle you are on vacation.

Santa Monica is a nice, tourist area on the ocean that is more expensive than Compton, but it is the type of location you will be happy to visit while on vacation because you will be close to the ocean, the boardwalk, shopping and a lot of nice restaurants. If you go further inland, they probably have less expensive hotels in West Los Angeles, but you won't be near the beach. However, even West Los Angeles is better than Compton unless you have family there and are familiar with the area.

Default straight outta compton

Wow. Why not ask if going to Iraq/Iran with a backpack full of american flags is safe and cheap? I hear Watts is especially nice this time of year.

Google straight outta compton.

Default compton, america's best kept secret

this is clearly a joke but i gotta admit i laughed at loud when i read the post and the comments to follow! im from nj and moving to newport beach, california and yet i am still very aware of compton, ca.

CAMDEN, NJ
COMPTON, CA
NEWARK, NJ

Quite possibly the 3 worst places to live right now, besides Iraq.

Anyone even thinking about moving hear is a complete and utter fool.
Even if you are in total poverty, I would recommend sleeping on the street somewhere safer before renting or buying a home in these areas. Compton and Camden I believe have the highest homicide rates in the US. Newark is hands down the #1 car theft city in the US every year running lol.

good luck.

Someone reccomended Compton. I never heard of it before, but they did say its reasonably priced.

Also, are California people really like they are on shows like "The Hills" and "Laguna Beach"?

I just wonder. Im from Virginia so I think it might be a little different out there than it is in my neck of the woods.
may i suggest baghdad. it's beautiful this time of year
