Default cal poly pomona or humboldt state?

i am in between the two schools that offer my major, i have heard nothing good about pomona and as for humboldt all i hear is its a bunch of pot smoking hippies and its hard to find housing. are either of these areas good for a newly married couple to live and enjoy?

I'd start by looking at geography--do you prefer being in a more natural setting a bit isolated from large cities (Humboldt) or would you rather be in a suburban/urban setting with relatively close access to the greater LA area (Pomona)? They're polar opposites in terms of lifestyle.

I would guess that a young married couple might prefer Pomona, unless said couple is very much outdoorsy and prefers very small town living.

Cal Poly Pomona is a good school--not sure what you've heard about it? But it's a strong state school and a good place for a determined student to excel.

pomona is a good school. both cal polys are well respected and hold a more prestige over your general cal state school because of their technical focus(rather than, say, liberal arts or business) eventhough it is part of the cal state school program.

Pomona is in the LA Metro; Humboldt is not.

I would think the cost of living would be much less up there; not sure though. I have visited the CSH campus, it is beautiful.

Does either of you have to work? Might be easier in Pomona.

I guess we need a lot more details.

Agree with the pot smoking stereotype and reputation -- I always equated Humboldt with, ahem, smokers of the green leaf.

if you are wanting to go into the technology sector with that business degree, i would pick pomona. plenty of opportunities for good minors there in that field, or perhaps double majoring with a CIS/MIS degree as well

well to get more into it, we live in a small town right now, los osos so we are used to it but moving to a big city isnt a problem. we both need to work so we can afford living. one problem we have found living here is we have a dog and no one renting out a place allows pets

If you both need to work and you are majoring in business, Pomona seems like a bit of a better choice. Even for zoology, the LA area would have more intern/job opportunities, I would think. Have you been to the city and campus? That would probably help you decide.
