It is said all politics is local... I guess that is true.

I live in Oakland and only see Obama yard signs and bumper stickers.

Ultrarunner, I live in Ventura County California and this is one of the few areas of the state that is conservative. We are sandwitched between LA county and Santa Barbara county. But this is Reagan country and a somewhat safe conservative outpost where Bush won and McCain will win as well.

That's not true and you know it unless you are living in a dream Ventura county is "light blue" & this election will be a slam dunk for Obama according to all polls. BTW, when did you move to Ventura all of a sudden? Are you embarrassed to admit you actually live in Arizona?

The "yes" on prop 8 people are either extreme primitive evangelicals/Mormons or bigots who are a very small minority in California. Prop 8 will not pass in our state since most people here are educated.

way to generically label everyone for the measure as a religious nut or a bigot. thats kind of like calling all of the people for it immoral homosexuals that are going to hell and are committing crimes against nature.

news flash: not everyone for 8 is doing it because they hate homosexuality or are blinded by religious drivel and not everyone against 8 are homosexuals themselves.

That is why we keep electing Elton, because we are liberal. I still live in the Oxnard area, because of work. I grew up here and have lived here all my life. We also bought a home in Arizona.

WOW

You just lost all respect on that rant but I'm sure you don't care. Please do the rest of us a favor and quit posting on it. It's hard enough without drumming up hate.

When you toss out the bigot thing all that does is polarize, nice going.

Yeah it not easy looking yourself in the mirror & believe you truly are a bigot but, surprise Just like racism, some poorly educated & mentally insecure people have to have someone to hate. But today it is not considered good taste to overtly say hateful things about Blacks & homosexuals. So instead, Republicans try to use every lame excuse there is to fight against progress & humanism [ie. no such thing as "global warming\ homosexuality is a choice\ Blacks are basically lazy] and I'm sure to can name a hundred more of your biases against others [but spare us please & save it for your Bible study.

You don't like being called a bigot? Good, grow-up & maybe enroll in college and/or therapy to improve your life. Just don't impose your ignorance of the rest of us in California, please.

I was one of the people who voted against gay marriage the last time this topic came up in legislation (making marriage only between a man and a woman in California), but this time I'm voting for it - against Prop. 8. Why? Very simple. My daughter told me that she's bisexual, and she's had a loving relationship with her girlfriend for over a year now. Why shouldn't they have the right to marry? I'm reminded of Wanda Sykes' take on all of this: "If you don't believe in same sex marriage, then don't marry somebody of the same sex."
