Default Thoughts on Marysville - Yuba

How are rents in the Yuba area? Marysville?

Up side and down side to the area?

You might check the appeal democrat web site classifieds to find out about rents in the area.

The area is a good one - 100 miles from San Francisco and 100 from Lake Tahoe, 45 miles from Sacto and the airport.

Default Yuba County/Sutter County

I grew up in Wheatland, which is about 10 minutes from Marysville/Yuba City so I know the area really well.

Marysville, Olivehurst, and Linda are not nice areas and are run down and poor with alot of crime.

Yuba City which is right over the bridge from Marysville is somewhat better but not by alot.

Yuba City overall is depressing and filled with a mix of illegals, working-class, and retires. The rents there will range anywhere from $400 for a iffy place to $750 for something pretty decent.

There are many new developments taking place in this area so I guess you could say it is in the middle of a transformation. New tract homes are coming in and prices are rising quickly.

There is nothing to do in Yuba City besides the basic bowling, Sizzlers, and Casa Lupe. The downtown is walkable, but is nothing special.

The weather in summer in the central valley is HOT, sticky, and has lots of mosquitoes and DUST.

The only benefit I see to living in Yuba City is if you plan to BUY a place and commute via highway 99 to Sacramento or Chico.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'll agree with everything mentioned by MegAsh. I might add that the whole area up there ( as does CA on a wider scale) has a real problem with drugs, especially meth. I went to college in Chico and it was always in the news up there in Butte County. There area a lot of isolated, out-of-the-way areas that attract the meth cookers and other slimeballs.
