I vehemently oppose prop 8 and it's passage completely baffles me, but I understand that not everyone sees the world the same way that I do. If you voted for prop 8, I completely disagree with you, but I respect you're right. However, I can't stand it when people bring religion into the debate. I was raised Christian, so that's the religion I'm most familiar with and the one that I'm going to use in the following example....

When Christians begin quoting these passages of the Bible to justify their disapproval of homosexuality, stating that God "clearly" states how sinful the act is, I hope that these same people are active members of the Communist Party. Because if they truly took the entire Bible as seriously as they claim in this instance, they would realize that Jesus Christ was a Marxist. I think about the many times that Jesus, the central figure of Christianity, urged his followers to freely share their wealth with the less fortunate. He even says at one point that the poor are blessed and the wealthy are damned. Well, the wealthy are damned to hell, Jesus said so himself! Just read that Bible passage. We need an amendment outlawing salaries greater than $30,000/year! The Bible clearly says so and as a Christian, that's my belief!

Maybe the Mormons blew millions of dollars on this so they'd be poor and blessed by Jesus.

Yes, we should all be poor and proud of it (but not too proud, because isn't pride a sin, too??)! I think we should also bring back slavery, because that was condoned in the Bible as well.

Hooray, the radical homosexual agenda is defeated by the people!!!

No more hating Christians and no more bigotry and hate from the homosexual activists.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. Always has been and always will be. Everyone knows this basic fact.

Homosexual adoption is literal child abuse. I can't wait until the long-term studies prove this, sad as that is to say for the kids' sake.

Man, I have never seen such angry, hateful and bigoted people as I have with radical homosexuals. They have some serious problems with society.

The Bible can be twisted around to justify a lot of things, which is why it has absolutely no place in politics/lawmaking.

LOL... this reminds me of when librarians (which I am) were called "radical militant librarians" for opposing the Patriot Act. That is a label we now wear with great pride.

Yup... that's exactly the point I tried to make earlier, which got skewed into a religious debate. Too ironic for words, hehe.

Now that these false marriages have been invalidated, it is time to remove domestic partnerships, such unions are almost the same as civil marriage, that they have become a defacto marriage for gay couples, voters have decided to NOT have civil marriage for gay couples, and so to follow the spirit of voters these domestic partnerships must be eliminated. Now that we have removed gay marriage that is the next logical step. A marriage by any other name is still a marriage.
