It can't make it any worse than it already is though...

That's what I was going to say- doing something might help, but doing nothing definitely won't help, so let's give it a shot....constant improvement!

Im voting no. Our elected representatives should redistrict-no one else.

If we dont like it, vote them out.

Our elected official redistrict in a way that ensures that they stay in power. Which makes "voting them out" very difficult and many times almost impossible. It's like setting your own rules for a game so you are advantaged, they are not playing the game fairly.

Look at how many people complain about their politicians yet 99% of incumbents get elected.

The legislature is full of partisan politicians that only appeal to their bases while most people are moderate. This is why democrats operate no differently than republicans, they use tricks like gerrymandering to give themselves an unfair advantage, but for NO on 11 supporters I guess the unfair advantage is alright as long as you're a democrat

Voting "None of the Above" does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! It's no solution. How stupid. Trying to make all the districts "COMPETITIVE" is the answer and that's the intention of prop 11.

VOTE YES ON PROPOSITION 11

A YES vote on this measure means: Boundaries for State Senate, Assembly, and Board of Equalization districts would be drawn by a new commission made up of California registered voters. Boundaries for U.S. House of Representatives districts would continue to be drawn by the Legislature.

A NO vote on this measure means: Boundaries for State Senate, Assembly, Board of Equalization, and U.S. House of Representatives districts would continue to be drawn by the Legislature.

Some of the groups supporting it are: Common Cause, AARP, Los Angeles Chamber, League of Women Voters, ACLU of Southern California, California Police Chiefs Association, among many others.

Prominent officials include Governor Schwarzenegger, Former Controller Steve Westly, Former Governor Gray Davis, Former Congressman Leon Panetta, Former Senate Republican Leader Jim Brulte, Former Speaker Robert Hertzberg, Davis' Assemblywoman Lois Wolk, among a number of others. And the editorial boards of many of California's biggest newspapers: Los Angeles Times, San facisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, San Diego Union Tribune, Orange County Register, Fresno Bee, and the Stockton Record, again among others. Again you have liberal editorial boards and conservative ones.

Voters First!
I'm voting no, the council doesn't answer to anyone.

A binding "None of the Above" means that even a person running unopposed can lose the election. Even in elections where more than one runs if "None of the Above" wins you would get new candidates. It's a better solution than redistricting by a group of people who are likely to be just as partisan as the politicians they are supposed to oversee and who ultimately don't answer to the people.

The fact that the Prison Guard union, the most corrupt and wasteful union in CA, is opposing this should enough reason to support it.

People opposing Prop 11 just want Democrats to maintain their unfair advantage in the legislature and they know it but won't actually admit it. I tend to favor democrats a lot more often than not but the one's in CA legislature are too partisan and full of themselves.

This will bring FUNDAMENTAL change that is need in CA very badly. We all know our state is heading the wrong direction so what sense does it make to keep this unfair process that only yields partisan politicians who don't represent the majority of voters??

Then really, whose fault is that? Ours I'd say.

But I do get you point.

I get what you're saying too and you do have a point BUT reality is we don't have a say in how our elected officials draw their own district boundaries.

If you're voting no on this b/c you want Democrats to retain their power and majority then just admit that and keep it real here....
