Default Tell Me About Half Moon Bay

Tell me about Half Moon Bay. We are considering moving there, but aren't sure if it is the community for us.

HMB is a nice little coastal town surrounded by farm fields growing pumpkins, artichokes, Brussel sprouts and other cool weather crops. There is also a Christmas tree farm in the area and a winery. The weather can often be cool, windy and foggy. Outside of supermarkets and other stores, there isn't much shopping. You have to go 15 or 20 miles to go to a big box store such as a Target or a Costco or a shopping mall. There are only 2 highways out of town - Hwy 1 north to San Francisco and Hwy 92 east towards San Mateo. Both roads are 2 lane and traffic is sometimes slow. A few miles north of HMB is the Pillar Point harbor which has a small fishing fleet. There is also an upscale Ritz-Carlton Hotel with golf course just south of town. There is also a new developement south of town with expensive McMansions surrounding a golf course (that takes away from the charm of HMB in my opinion)

Nice description

Half Moon Bay is a nice little town, but it's a bit more upscale and it feels a little isolated because it's behind the hills. The drive over the hills on 92 can be difficult and if there's an accident it gets backed up easily.
