Default Palmdale/AV Lifestyle Opinion

I have lived here since 1966 and went to Palmdale High, along with my brother and sister. As far as business goes in the Antelope Valley, you MIGHT make a go of it due to the high growth in ALL Antelope Valley towns, depending on what the business is. If you are selling HipHop regalia or speaker systems for your trunk or .357 Magnums, then yeah, you'll do all right.
Once upon a time this was a great place to live, clean air, friendly people, lots of work in aircraft and related service industries. When the 14 freeway came through in the late 60's however, it sounded the death knell for this area. Prior to the 14, you could only get here on a two lane country road, Sierra Highway and it took a while to go to and from Los Angeles. The freeway made it a quick trip from the Valley to Palmdale in about 45 minutes. By the early/middle 70's, low income apartments sprouted like weeds, valley communities began to advertise what a great place the AV was and people began moving here in droves. Then the word got out: Housing was CHEAP in the AV, and the rush was on. Unfortunately, the rush involved many families trying to escape the gangs and crime of Los Angeles and they brought it with them.
NOW we have a prison with many prison relatives moving to the AV and a large Juvenile detention facility on the west side of Lancaster which only add to the problem. Palmdale and Lancaster have grown UGLY, sprawling strip malls, empty retail buildings all over the valley (BIG ONES!) Just not a lot of thought to planned growth, in my opinion. Almost every hsitoric building in the Anteope Valley has been razed for more shopping. I think there are six or seven LARGE Wal-Marts here in the valley. How many do you need??? Developers have tried to build enough houses to hold every man, woman and child in the San Fernando Valley!
Enough said on that, there is NO WAY I would live in Palmdale AT ALL! Maybe Rancho Vista which straddles Palmdale and Quartz Hill, but otherwise just too many idiots who are armed. (I was almost shot three years ago by a carload of these fools because my car stalled at an intersection).
East Lancaster has a LOT of section 8 housing, so that area would ba out as well. Stay OUT Of the east side of the valley PERIOD!!!!!
Rosamond is better than the previous two communities as it's further north by ten miles. The commute is longer, so not as many people have moved here, though it IS growing! That advantage will diminish with time as more menial work becomes available and a lot of these people no longer need to commute.
Leona Valley and Green Valley are nice little ranch communities west of Palmdale 10 miles, but are pretty pricey. Acton, south of Palmdale 15 miles is nioce too, but again, it's pretty expensive.
I tend to like Juniper Hills, above Littlerock about the best. Some nice houses there as well.
My wife, (who was born here) and I are going to move to Texas in a couple of years as we have many friends relocating to that area and it's a world of difference.
We are heartbreoken about what has happened to southern California in general and the Antelope Valley in particular, but the sooner we are out of here, the better and that's pretty much the sentiment of everyone I know who has been here for any length of time. Anyway, good luck, keep your powder dry and your head down!
Really a shame!!!

Thumbs up Bad Boys, Bad Boys...Whatcha Gonna Do...

REAL LIVE COPS HIT LANCASTER

I was down in the snakepit of Antelope Valley visiting friends who are also trying to sell their house and get out, and was pleasantly surprised by the sight of 2 man units seemingly all over the east side, pulling over "suspicious" cars, serving warrants, answering calls...a real police presence! My friends showed me recent copies of the Antelope Valley Press that showed that Sheriff Baca has finally gotten around to addressing problems of weak-to-no coverage for east Lancaster and other problem areas. The LASO admitted that Lancaster Substation was undermanned by >>>>40<<<< deputies...40! Already, they've filled 12 positions, according to the paper, with supposedly many more supposedly coming soon. Also, there were several recent articles showed to me about Section 8 enforcement. Although a lot of those greenies who got pulled out of "Twin Flowers" to take those task force positions may think they caught a break by getting out of the jails, maybe they won't feel that way by mid-summer. Still, you'd think any duty's better than "Twin Flowers" or the Pitchess "Rauncho" up near Castaic.

Looks like there's a new sheriff in town. If anyplace needs it, it's surely Lancaster! Now...if it would only last. City council dweeb Andy Visokey has a long documented history of fighting AGAINST adding more deputies to the Lancaster Sub, fearing the dreaded increase in taxes any additions might entail, which rubs his right wing fur the wrong way. Hey....you either pay for the police protection and more detectives, or your town goes down the crapper the way Lancaster and Palmdale have. It'll be a long fight back, and more Sec. 8 and gang investigators will surely be needed, but if they DO get them, things MAY turn around. With the ghettoids seeing a sea of black and whites running around and as they start getting their free housing cut off, maybe they'll move to Victimville or some other place. San Berdoo seems to be a good place for them.

I'm not a big fan of Baca's (many of his deputies aren't, either) but this was a good move that was way overdue. It also should show the Lancaster electorate how incompetent and useless their city council and "mayor" really are for letting this problem get so far out of hand without any response. It appears that community action and a politically calculated response by Antonovich were the prime movers in getting the task force deputies...not the elected morons of the City Council or the empty suit "mayor." Pretty typical, but at least things appear to be on the upswing down there.

Actually it is R. Rex Parris (local attorney) and Paul Chappell (Lancaster Baptist Church pastor) that started it with a large meeting a couple of weeks ago. It is the http://www.avwarongangs.org that got the ball rolling.

Extra deputies have been brought in for a week long concentration of hitting the high crime areas of Lancaster, Palmdale and the unincorporated areas of the AV.

BTW, who erased the post that appeared between mothballman's and DeserTBob's? It was a post by R_U_SERIOUS.

Yolo..Yes (Sage of Segal) deleted my post saying it does not apply to the rest of the post....Reason: Orphaned subject matter ....In my post i directly reply to whatever Desert Bob posted so how is it (Orphaned)...If you ask me that is just another racist turn...Meanwhile DesertBob can say whatever racist thing he wishes to say...but my post get deleted when i am addressing his bull...if my post is gonna be deleted than his should be as well.....I am highly upset that this board is full of racist...Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you delete my post again i will just keep posting it because i have it copied!!!!!

Racist Bob....

You are the kind of white person that makes my stomach curl. You are immensely ignorant and so vulgarly racist that it is very hard to even read a post from you. You can actually tell that your only hate is of (Black People) and that you have a very low opinion of us and it could be a white person on section 8 with 6 kids and selling meth in your neighborhood but you wouldn't even see them because you are sooo busy shooting evil looks at the African American's in your Neighborhood's and writting (Leave ******) on your neighborhood walls...It is also very clear that you want every white person to leave Palmdale/Lancaster because of your hate for blacks (Not because of any rising crime rate) you simply dont like us and can't bare to live near any person of color.....your just like those (White Racist) who see's one person of color and starts packing...and now because you wanna live around (Only whites) you paint Palmdale/Lancaster as this Compton Ghetto...but take a second to think about Compton (Which is a place im sure you have never visited) Yes you have some high crime parts...but for the most part when i visit family out there...they live in a nice 2 story home with 3 cars and a very nicely manicured lawn...the whole neighborhood is that way...and guess what im alive to tell you about it..so stop painting Compton as some black hell....especially since you only see things in movies or read some newspaper about a crime that happened a long time ago...and also DesertBob puts a link to a horrible story indeed about a young(African American) man shot while doing his job (Holding a sign for some new homes in the area) and was fatally shot...but where in the story does this say it was done by a black person or some "ghettoid" as you would so lovingly call us...it could have been some racist white person like (DesertBob) who shot a young black male simply because he was black or who know's i wouldn't put it past DesertBob he is already mentioning Uzi's and Ak's and dropping black people in the doorway...so please dont spend that story around and make it a black thing....It was a horrible thing!!!!!

Bottomline is....I have never really experienced racism until i got here...it is very suttle but it's here...Like for instance being in a Smart & Final and looking at the seasoning section...totally unaware that i was in someones way and (also believe that there was much room to go by) and it had to be like 3 seconds before i realized that some people were behind me..and i smiled and said "Oh exuse me" and these white people never turned to look at me or even resond only looking forward with a stone face walking pass looking only disturbed that i was african american and not because they had to wait for me for 3 seconds....that's a very suttle racism...when white people are angry for really no reason and they dont speak...but it actually speaks volumes because black people pick up on it everytime so please dont think that we don't notice..when you hate someone it oozes from you.

I really don't even care at the end of the day because i dont really care about white people like that...if you are nice i am nice back with manners and respect...and if you are unfriendly...i ignore you...and if you are racist you will wish you never have come in contact with me ..because i will tell you about yourselves....People like DesertRacistBob definitely need to move as far away as possible but here's the news flash ...you will never not see a black person and believe me (I wish it was some white place where all of you white people could move to and never see us again...and to only see white flesh) but the problem of high crime will still be there and your seriel killer's,child molestation, drug's and your seriously perverted crimes will be through the roof's(especially in white neighborhoods)...crime will always exsist ...it is a people thing not a race thing but DesertBob is so ignorantly racist that he would never see it like that.

Maybe in the next 20-30 years they will make the Moon livable to live on and all white people can migrate there...I wish you guy's good luck trying to live in a utopia white neighborhood....LOL

and DesertBob could be your head KKK ralley leader........(You guy's are soooo funny) it's also very funny how you white people are only warning people to not move into the black communities..

DesertBob writes
HAHA! NOW you know why I sold out and moved away, leaving Lancaster to mooks like R_U_SERIOUS and others. The place is now "Compton North," and now they're shooting each other on the far west side...45thW and K!

Looks like all the Antelope Valley civic puffers in here should've sold when I said so a few months ago. Now bullets from automatic weapons are flying in the middle of the day, as gang-attired ghettoids with "jobs" as "sign spinners" (when they're not sitting on their black asses on a cell phone) for housing tracts get gunned down by other ghettoids in "pimped out rides" with the baby buggy wheels and the thump-thump noise.

Lancaster = "Compton North" Palmdale = "Inglewatts North"

SELL NOW! DON'T WAIT FOR THEM TO START WITH THE HOME INVASION ROBBERIES AGAIN

Meanwhile, having an Uzi or AK with a few clips is good insurance against ghettoid home invasions. Just make sure they drop inside the front door.

R_U_SERIOUS,

When someone posts inappropriate content that is reported to the moderators and we delete it, we will generally also delete the direct angry response to that thread as orphaned content. Get over it. It's far from a "racist turn"....it's how a board is moderated as we try to keep this board civil. I will leave both your comments up, but the two of you need to either take it offline or you will both have posting privileges suspended forthwith. No personal warring is going to be tolerated. I hope I have made myself clear.

I refuse to respond to anything R_U_SERIOUS posts. It would be counterproductive.

As far as yolo's post, thanks for the correcting info. A WEEK? That's a nice show, but won't do much in the long run, just like the week-long task force measures down in the ghettos and jungles haven't done anything to ameliorate the crime rate down there. R. Rex Parris, the uber ambulance chaser? That guy never met any form of publicity he didn't like. His cable TV commercials were always good for a chuckle. Nice hats, Rex. As my dad, an attorney practicing in Southern California for 40 years, once remarked after advertising for lawyers became acceptable to the ABA, any lawyer who has to advertise can't be a very good lawyer. He never spent a nickel on advertising...he didn't have to do so to build a successful and long lived practice.

Again, the reason crime spun to wildly out of control in the last couple of years can be traced to incompetent local government officials. A measure was on the local ballot a couple of years ago to assess all property owners $25 per annum to fund 10 more deputies to cover the Lancaster contract, and it was railed against by the likes of Visokey and other anti-tax fruitcakes. Due to low voter turnout and the fanatic voting habits of such nutballs, the badly needed assessment was voted down. Thus, the influx of ghettoids and the crime that comes with them was left unchecked by an inferior police presence. That's bad civic management, any way you look at it. A week's worth of "COPS" material isn't going to solve the problem...the city admitting they've screwed up on both law enforcement coverage AND Section 8 siting would be a good first step.

I'm just glad I tripled my investment and got the hell out. Leave the Antelope Valley to the R_U_SERIOUSES and R. Rex Parrises and tilt-up church money grubbers. My residency in that valley proved that it was undeniably the worst place I've ever lived, and for a number of reasons.

BEWARE ROSAMOND! Although the quick buck builders and Kern County supes are wont to not say a word about it, Rosamond has a pretty bad toxic waste problem that is still ongoing. Toxic dumping from AF Plant 42 and Edwards AFB in the 1950s was mostly the culprit, and, as usual, the DoD seems to not admit any culpability, and points to the contractors, who then point back to the DoD. Remember the Lockheed B1 plant in Burbank, and the toxic nightmares that happened there when they tore down the plant? They had a hole in the ground TWO STORIES DEEP that was the size of the plant! No such cleanup has ever been tried in Rosamond, and the chemicals and wasted dumped out there are probably far more noxious. Although not as bad, similar toxic dumping was detected at Lockheed's B6 and A1 plants when they were inspected as well.

I used to wonder if anything near Plant 42 was contaminated, as well. Old timers can remember the days when the contractors at the plant would simply truck the waste out into the desert and dump it wherever they pleased...sort of how people in Lancaster get rid of their trash now. Coming home, I took 30thE up to Ave G and took a lateral over to 14 to escape northward. Trash, like old couches, TVs, household crap and more, was dumped all over the place.

That alone tells you what kind of people are living in that area now.
