the biggest mistake of your life!
i am not being dramatic, but i would just about get two of my fingers you NEVER been to palmdale ca! There is no one in their right mind who would move there. No one. And I would have said that 10 years ago when it started to go bad! You had really better think again before you make that move! Oh and Lancaster would not be any better......not at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who ever you are, I'm serious, YOU WILL REGRET IT! Make sure you save this post in case you do so you can look back at it and literally hear my voice saying...I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO IT!
Search some more and get the REAL facts!

I moved from Lancaster 3 1/2 years ago and do not regret it. I go back and visit just about every month and it is becoming infested with illegals and gangs. Palmdale is just as bad. I read that there is a new water park in Palmdale. I would imagine that it is crawling with gangbangers just like the parks.

Rather no "562" would ever date "818"
Serious conflicts here but one thing is sure no "562" will opt for "818"

The rapid, rabid growth in Palmdale is a double edged sword. It's good for business and is a quick, get rich area for outside investors. It's like the California Gold Rush. Hurry and buy land and develop it before it's too late.
It's a good place for rich land developers to build big box stores although they wouldn't want one in their back yard. The other side of the coin is that the town is growing so fast that it's citizens cannot adjust to the fast growth. The quality of life is going down, down, down. Twenty years ago, the tap water tasted like an alpine spring, the air was crisp and clean, and the stars at night could almost be touched. Now, the water tastes like chlorinated algae, the air is brown and the stars are disappearing. Of course, the outside investors getting rich from Palmdale, are getting the best of life. Palmdale used to be paradise, beleive it or not.

Odd, since the bulk of the LA County Waterworks still comes from the same place...the California Aqueduct of the Feather River Project, which was completed in the 1970s.

Well, it never was a "paradise," per se, but rather a haven for right wing loonies and those of small means. John Wayne's family settled in Lancaster around 1916, and quickly moved "down the hill," with Wayne's father saying that the area is a "hard place to live." Air quality has never been good in any part of the Antelope Valley due to airborne micro dust and constant winds. Since circa 1950, San Joaquin Valley Fever has infected thousands there due to the fact that the ancient fungus spores that cause the sometimes-fatal disease are everywhere in the soil. I know of three people who recently contracted SJVF last year, and one will probably die soon due to its becoming systemic, even with state-of-the-art treatment at Cedars-Sinai. The recent rash of building of more cracker boxes all over has caused a spike in new SJVF cases, as well. ANYONE can get this fungus, and many can die from it. The worst place for SJVF, of course, is the valley itself, with Bakersfield, Lemoore, Weed Patch, Oildale, Arvin, Edison and others being hubs of the plague of it that killed thousands in the 1950s. In that case, I sort of think of it as Darwinian population control.
My earlier prediction that the entire LA county section of the Antelope Valley is being "ghettoized" has been confirmed by a tour of the area this week. Traditions, at 30thE and K is overrun with ghettoids. Eastgate is a worse war zone than before. I see "creeping darkness" even on the west side as well.
Glad I got out with all my profit! All the shills who stay there and enable these developers and Section 8 creeps to make their millions would do well to die off from SJVF, as far as I'm concerned, including all the local politicos.
By the way...the word is "belIEve"...not "belEIve."

Hey- how's land value in the unpopular area of littlerock, ca?
Just looking for a place to move to that would have some acreage around it. Don't care too much about the neighborhood,I like a country feel. Passed through Littlerock on my way to Palm Desert from Lancaster recently. Does anybody know about any acreage properties there? spacefordogsandacow.

Response to DeserTBob
My son in law recently brought this forum to my attention due to letters by DeserTBob that weren't quite accurate. I would like to reply to some of the posts, but first let me introduce myself.
My name is Gary Brody. I am the section 8 investigator for the City of Palmdale. Background:
I joined the Sheriff Department in 1983. Transferred to old AV station in 1987. Worked the streets of Palmdale and Lancaster until 1995 when I promoted to narcotics bureau. Worked dope in Carson, Compton, East LA, Santa Clarita, Palmdale, and finished my career in 2002 with the Lancaster Narcotic Crew. I was involved in the DEA sweep Bob mentions, but they mostly dealt with crack cocaine and heroin. The Lancaster and Palmdale narcotic crews were the big factors in bringing down the large meth labs. Bob and other writers are right about the meth problems up here.
I was hired by the Community Development Comission and the City of Palmdale as the section 8 fraud investigator in April of 2005 for 18 hours per week. My hours increased to 32 hrs a week in December 2005.
Now to my replies.....
DeserTBob quote: "I have a source inside the DPSS and there is a deliberate policy to locate ghettoids out of these three 1940's housing projects into Palmdale, Lancaster and Lake LA."
Fact: Not true.....I would like to speak with your "source". I have been involved in meetings where these rumors have been mentioned, and laughed at. The rumors have floated around for at least 4 years. There is no way I can prove to a believer this is only a rumor. Time will show you I'm right. However, there are already a few HUD apartment projects in the AV. These are run by the federal HUD and I have no juristiction in rules violations.
DeserTBob quote: " Recently LA County Sheriff station was called in regards to a section 8 renter growing marijuana on the rental property. The response ? "mind your own business".
Fact: I have a direct line at my desk for section 8 complaints. I never received that call. Have your informant call me at 661-272-2454. They can also call the fraud hotline at 877-881-7233.
DeserTBob quote: " The reality is that the LA County Sheriff department is not on board with any such section 8 enforcement program anywhere in the Antelope valley".
Fact: Bob, my office is in the Palmdale Sheriff Station. I am in the same office with Partners Against Crime, or PAC, and the detective bureau. I work directly with PAC and have two sergeants, the whole PAC team, probation and parole to work with. PAC team members provide me with information that has led to a large amount of my section 8 termination proceedings. I have access to booking slips, reports, sheriff department calls for service, etc. The PAC deputies have gone through training by my supervisor to be able to identify possble tenant violations. I never go to a section 8 criminal complaint investigation without at least a two man PAC team with me due to safety issues. Please feel free to visit me at my desk in the Sheriff Station whenever you like so you can see I'm not blowing smoke. Lancaster's section 8 investigator works in the Lancaster Sheriff station and works with LAN-CAP.
Please remember.......I can't terminate tenants from the program beacuse they act different, look different, don't fit in, have a different life style, etc. There are strict rules that have to be followed by tenants, and I can only terminate them from the program based on the Housing Authorities Administration Plan violations.
Thank you...I hope this helps.....Gary Brody

I bought my 1st home, in Palmdale 1999. At the time I swore I would NEVER "live in Palmdale" I was quite familiar with the area as I had been Drag Racing at L.A.Co.Raceway, and had gone skiing numerous times. But I have Kids and HAD to buy something, somewhere....
I was able to find a nice house, in a nice neighborhood, just off Pearblossom & 25th st. Not too 'eastside'. Anyways, we paid 77,000 for the house, and is now worth $340,000.00 +/-. My only plus is, I owe less than 65K (9yrs left) and my Mortgage is about 1/2 of what rent would be anywhere in Cali. Now, there are some really bad areas of Palmdale/Lancaster for sure. But where is there NOT bad areas? Do your homework, listen to opinions, decide what 'opinions' work for you. I am currently looking to investing in land (Antelope Acres, Rosamond, etc) I happen to really like where I live. Great off-road riding, clean-air, blue skies, warm summer nights. A.V. DOES have some good to offer. Just stay away from the tweakers/trash (like anywhere else...)
