moving to palmdale, ca - questions
hello everyone,
i might be moving to palmdale in a couple of months, and i was wondering if theres a website that i can find estate agents, or places to rent, and websites with used cars, dealerships, or with ppl advertising their cars for sale?
also, anyone of you might know if theres a cisco corporation near by? i was told that there is one but when i went to cisco's website i couldnt find any info on this subject.
any places to snowboard near by?
how is palmdale in general? i was only able to read statistics and such. would i be better off living in lancaster, quatz hill or maybe acton?
thank you so much for you help,
leszek

mountain high is like 10-15 mins from palmdale.
for real estate, check the local yellow pages or google.
palmdale is becomming a bigger/better city as we speak. many new constructions and new homes are being built. good luck with your search.

I hope its not too late for you. Don't do it!!! Palmdale/Lancaster is full crime, gangs and drugs. It has one of the highest crime rates in LA county. Most of the lower class people that can not afford home's in LA move to Palmdale now of day's. Its a boring city. No life what so ever to speak of. Hot summer's-cold winter's. The streets look like a ghost town most of the time, with the only movement is a stray tumbleweed. The only people that you will see walking the street are the meth heads.
I would highly suggest you look elsewhere before moving to Palmdale/Lancaster..unless of course you like that sort of stuff.
But you are close to the slopes, caus you will want to get the hell out of the valley!!
Trust me on this post. If you look elsewhere on the web regarding Palmdale/Lancaster, most people will tell you the same thing

wow, now you got me thinking. most likely i will be working in palmdale, or near palmdale. would you have ANY suggestion at all where should i move instead, that is quite near palmdale, and yet more peaceful and definately not full crime, gangs and drugs. i dont mind the city being boring, or hot summers cold winters, but crime gangs and drugs arent my cup of tea at all. thanks a lot for your reply. i will start looking right now

Stay on the WEST SIDE!!!

If you truly need to move here then I would suggest the West Side of the Antelope Valley....Rancho Vista, Quartz Hill, Antelope Acres, Del Sur, Lake Elizabeth, Lake Hughes, Leona Valley...or Acton, as you mentioned. The places I mentioned are all nice, suburban areas with low crime and good schools...Whatever you do, avoid ANYTHING to the east of Highway 14 which is commonly known around here as "the east side." That area is horrible and is where you will find most of the undesirables live.

Palmdale is a nice quiet beautiful town. It is blue skies, clean air and stars in the night sky-what you don't have down below in L.A. I live on the west side and go to the east side often for shopping, etc. I have never had a problem.
It's interesting the guy "Steve" said he's "not fond of Palmdale", and in the sentence prior, said he had never been there. Steve-don't open your business here-you will hate it.
I hope the ignorant people continue to badmouth Palmdale, and don't move here (I have found most people much friendlier here than other parts of L.A. in general). The pace is slower, the people more genuine and the quality of life 100% better. Good luck!

so you can't be "not fond of palmdale" or any other city before you visit the place? prior to visiting the city, i've read and heard many things about palmdale and i got the vibe that the city isn't that great. perhaps to some people its a great little town, but that all depends on the individual. ask a family from la canada to move to palmdale, they'll freak out. i wouldn't move to palmdale for any reason. the only thing attracting people to palmdale is the cheap real estate. for 1 million, you can buy a nice house in palmdale. you wont even find a house priced at 1 million in my neighborhood. the demograph also depicts the state of the city. palmdale is populated mostly with low income families and the crime rate is pretty high for such an undeveloped city. but, like i stated earlier, the city is growing and improving. maybe you think its a nice little town, but its not. you want nice little town? look into la crescenta, la canada. thats what you call a nice little town. palmdale is huge. when we talk about palmdale, we're not just talking about your block, which seems to be one of those newly developed homes in the west side, but we're looking at the entire city.
there is no need to call anybody ignorant because they dont see your point of view. peskyfish is right and so are you (some what). the east/central side of the city is ghetto, no doubt about it. the west side you speak of is nice, but nothing great. its like any other newly developed area. but it sure as hell isn't beverly hills, la canada, studio city, ect...
of course the pace is slower, the weather is horrible, their is empty lands everywhere, and the city is located in the middle of nowhere. people are more genuine? thats your opinion and your prior experience with Los Angeles. i wont argue with that. but, people didn't seem any nicer when i was visiting.
i'll take my business to palmdale, if i decide thats the right place. dont you want people to invest in your city? you dont want the city to grow? its people like me who will help cities like yours grow and become a good place to live.

all i have to say is parts of palmdale might be ghetto and all that but so is oakland and you ought to see how much land costs there. i invested in palmdale. definitley not to live there but there are a lot of opportunities to make money in real estate.

We know you are from So.Ca.if...
"You classify new people you meet by their Area Code. An "818" would
never date a "562" and anyone from "323" or "213" is ghetto / second class.
Best area code: "714/949." Nobody likes anyone from the "909" because it
stinks there."
"You think you are better than the people who live "Over the Hill".
It doesn't matter which side of the hill you are currently residing,
you are just better than them, for whatever reason."
