For people who want to leave CA, what state has become the most popular to move to?
For people who want to leave CA, what state has become the most popular to move to? Is the weather of the state where you would move to a primary consideration?

I think the weather is the primary reason to *stay* in California. I'm not sure I understand that part of your question. Do you mean is poor weather elsewhere the primary concern of people who are considering a move? The great weather is one of the things we're sure we'll miss if we move.

Bentonville, Arkansas has a ton of Californians that just relocated. Bentonville is headquarters for Walmart & has stong business environment, and has a lot of retirement communities such as Bella Vista & Eureka Springs in the area.
You can see the red in the NW corner of Arkansas on the map.

There are some ex-Californians in Huntsville, primarily ex-Southern California aerospace engineers (like me). When I lived in Colorado there were tons of ex-Californians.
When I lived in Thousand Oaks, I'd take the kids to the park on Saturdays. There'd be a bunch of other dads there doing the same thing. Interestingly, most, almost all of the other dads were from somewhere else. They'd have their red sox or yankees cap on or bulls jersey. Or, they were from China or a country east of the Mediterranean. I felt totally out of place - in my own backyard.
When I moved to Colorado, I'd do the same thing, take the kids to the park....Yep; The other dads? Orange County, Pasadena, San Jose, etc.

Well, we're headed out as soon as possible. We were considering Charlotte, N.C., but nixed it - way too much growth & with it, crime & overcrowding. Don't need to go from frying pan to frying pan. We are now looking to Maine. Beautiful, coastal, clean, safe, much less densely populated (and less dense people - sorry, couldn't help that one!) As for the weather, well we have had it up to our eyeballs with heat & fires. Even the sunshine is monotonous. Everyday is the same. Reminds me of the old Bill Murray movie, "GroundHog Day!" Well, there it is. You asked!

The Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas are beautiful. The weather is usually hits a high in the 80's in the summertime, with maybe three nice snowfalls in the winter.
Fayetteville is also a beautiful town. A lot of Texans are also relocating to the area.

Notice how many people from Massachusetts have moved to CA, it seems since these people already live in an expensive state there not as detered by the high cost of living.

I don't want to move, but, as we age we may have to move out of the snow country where we live. I've thought about Oregon and Washington. Has to be an area without much snow or rain. We still want to remain rural, however.
