and yet, Nipomo has some very highpriced neighborhoods with all the amenities people who like that, like, and it has the best restaurant in the world. And plenty of producing farms. Nipomo is full of horse acreage parcels with homes from modest to grandiose.

Oceano west of the tracks is fine. There is a small and unique neighborhood there, unknown to most everyone, consisting of very small homes nestled among shrubbery and old trees. A fine place to live. And there are the Bako vacation homes, surf and sand neighborhood.

Pretty much anywhere you go you will find nice places, and not so nice places.

There was a time when one would not admit in public that they lived in Nipomo or Oceano, but those days are long gone.

Nice thing about the gangs, they pretty much just pick on each other.

You did not give your income. San Luis is pricey. And, consider, you don't want an apartment. You did not spend your life getting to the point where you want to live under someone, over someone, next to someone, sharing their life, their arguments and their lovemaking. You want a stand alone, even if it is a mobile home.
Thanks Clarks, you make an excellent point!

You are so true. Nipomo has a upper and lower class. At the high school, from what I've heard the students there are very imcompassionate to students from lower class families. A story I heard is that students openly wrote their feelings in a paper to their teacher.

Greetings from DC metro area,
Great thread!

Recently i got an offer from SLO high-tech company with annual salary 125k. It is existing position but the decision to relocation is hard--My wife currently is a Human Resource Manager in DC area and our annual family income is about 200k. We have two concerns:
1. We are thinking to buy house around 750k with no more than 15 years old, five bedrooms and at least 3 bathrooms in SLO. Since we already sold our current house, we have about 160k in cash. But it seems there were not many houses on the market at SLO... we use www.zillow.com. What is the best website for local real estate in SLO?

2. Is there any job openning for HR manager? If you could point us some local job resources that would be great.

3. How is the school system in SLO... We've heard CA has public school problems for years... We have one 2.5 years old boy and our daughter will be born next Jan.

TIA

If you relocate here, you will find the schools in San Luis Coastal District, or in Lucia Mar (south county) very good.

You will find life and weather here about as good as it gets.
