Where in Orange Co. is the crime rate lower?
I personally prefer living in Morro Bay or Los Osos. But, I can't imagine a nicer place to live than San Luis Obispo. I've traveled around the U.S. a bit. I haven't been to the east coast or deep south. Even so, SLO is it. I don't think there is a nicer place to live in the United States. 45K ppl, beautiful downtown, perfect weather, the most beautiful women per capita than anywhere period, short drive to the beach or wine country, halfway between L.A. and S.F./Santa Barbara and Monterey, right next to the Big Sur coastline (which is like one of the most scenic areas in the world). I don't know, is there a nicer place?

Air quality is very good in SLO. But,I didn't know that SLO has had earthquakes.
I have a friend that lives in Wisconsin and he is freezing his you know whats off. I asked him to come to California and hios reaponse was " I can take the cold but not all of those earthquakes you guys have!"
I am sure that keeps a lot of the Midwesterners from coming here?
I am surprised that the Big Orange has less crime.
As for rich widows..........I haven't met any yet. Just poor ones.

I've lived here nearly all my life, and the earthquakes aren't that bad. We get little tremors that do no more than rattle your pots and pans in the kitchen, and occasionally we get one that knocks some stuff down. All in all, I think it's absolutely NO worse than tornados, hurricanes etc etc. I guess you get used to it after a while... Not too long ago (maybe last summer) there was a little tremor that went through my town (atascadero) and me and my friends didn't even notice it, but my roomate, who grew up on the east coast, freaked out and threatened to move out.

Ugh ... you couldn't pay me enough to live in snow again. As for earthquakes ... who cares? Have felt only one tremor in the last ten years I've lived here.
Was in SLO this past weekend and, yes, it was a bit chilly but the weather was gorgeous ... as usual. It's a great town.

Lived in SLO Co. my entire life. I was 23 when I felt my first earthquake. In 40 yrs. I've felt three, just three. Only one was serious, as it damaged Paso Robles and killed two people.

I would give "the city"s left nut to be able to afford to retire in SLO/Los Osos/ Morro Bay. Weather and activity wise I cant think of a better place.

Thank you for all the great comments on SLO. IT sounds like paradise. I can hardly wait to visit and scope it out.
By the way do any of you work for the Central Coast City of Commerce?

I work a block up from the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce; ranked one of the best in the country. They do amazing work, and are wonderfully nice people. What do you need from the Chamber? Maybe I could get you to the right person.

I think he was being witty. He seems to find it hard to believe that people could like a place so much if they werent working for the Chamber.

The Central Coast of California is paradise ... no question about it. I visited here 20 years ago and couldn't get it out of my head. We've been wanting to live here forever ... Now that we do ... I'm in heaven.
