Question Paso Robles/Atascadero for Teachers

My family and I are looking into relocating to the the Paso Robles or Atascadero areas and I was wondering if any of you had any information on teaching (elementary) positions in the districts.

I also would like any information on the special education services for at the middle and high school levels as well.

Thanks in advance...

I am also planning to relocate to San Luis Obispo County and will be needing a teaching position. I came online today to see what I could find out about employment possibilities in Atascadero and Paso Robles.... I see you are in the same position as I am! Please reply if you've found out anything. I currently live in Florida, but need to be near my daughters in California. I plan to make the move as soon as possible. Anyone know how job opportunities in the teaching field (elementary) are looking right now? Thanks! :-)

Things are tight in California but you may be able to find a teaching job in specialized areas. Try using www.edjoin.org/

Districts in San Luis Obispo County are feeling a budget crunch due to declining student enrollment numbers and declining funding.

I just read these articles over the weekend.

While they may still fill some openings for teachers, they are facing a lot of cuts that will impact teaching.

Quote:
Half of San Luis Obispo County’s school districts have notified the county Office of Education of “severe budget trouble,” saying they can’t maintain their required emergency reserves through 2011 as state funding falls away. Because districts had a March 15 deadline to notify teachers of layoffs, the new funding shortfalls can’t be made up with additional teacher layoffs next fall, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Mary Jarvis said. Rather, savings will come through cuts that students will feel.

The five districts are Atascadero Unified, Lucia Mar Unified, Paso Robles Public Schools, San Miguel Joint Union and Shandon Joint Unified school districts.

There is a copy of a press release from the county superintendent of schools at this link, it details more info about the budget problems in those districts.

This thread is 2 years old.

FYI.. these schoold districts are handing out pink slips left and right. In other words, they are laying off teachers, not hiring new ones. Good luck though.
