Hey I just wanted to let you know that Brooks college os ont over there anymore. CSULB Bought that section for their students because that school is more legit and alot of people os going there so they need that spot so that they can set up dorms over there. So just because it was in a nice place don't mean it is a good school. That school is a waste of time.

Brooks was in trouble with the State of California, too. You could call the Department of Consumer Affairs for the details.

Default Brooks is in a lot of trouble

CEC which is the corporation that ownes Brooks College is being investigated, being sued, and can't seem to get accreditation coucils to accredit them.

This school along with all CEC schools are scams and ripoffreport.com along with many other active/past reports have been filed in regards to their issues.

I created a group that exposes CEC lies and deceiving enrollemt techniques.

And a CBS investigation:

CEC knows they're running a chopShop for-profit institution and the proper authorities are aware of it..

Checkout the CBS 60 Minutes investigation:

Default Fidm!

I'm sure from reading all the responses that you have got your answer already, but I go to FIDM & they are well respected and known in the industry. Don't know too much about Brooks, but they seem like bad guys from what I've read. FIDM is a great school, you'll be truly inspired by the instructors and students, and the environment is cool too. The career center is great resource and you'll be sure to land a internship. Many huge companies are always at my campus recruiting students for internship programs, entry level jobs, etc.

You'll have heavy course load, but your time there breezes by because you're on a quarter system. Expensive, yes, but its worth it I think.

Hi, I am thinking about attending FDIM also. I'm wondering what are there requirements to get in?

The only requirements that I am familiar with and that I was required to do when you apply are just a HS Diploma. Depending on your major, you will have to do an entrance project and also you'll have an interview with the director of the school. Make sure to do a good job on the entrance project because I've witnessed some prospective students not getting accepted into the school because they didn't do it or didn't do a good job. Oh, I also forgot you'll need recommendation letters and a few other things, but your advisor will let give you the entire scoop on everything you need.

I definitely recommend going!

Default Just Curious

I was reading this thread and researching the links and was a bit confused. Is the Santa Barbara Brooks Institute of Photography linked in anyway to the Brooks College discussed in this link? I am not looking to attend the institute, but am curious as I see several of their campuses in the Santa Barbara/Ventura area. Anyone know?

Well a few minutes later and I have answered my own question. They are all owned by the same corporation--Career Education Corporation. Very sad for the students. Very sad indeed.
