Well I'm doing the same thing, difference being I'll have a degree to fall back on.

In one of your other posts on another thread you said you were a dancer. Perhaps you could go to a fine arts or performing arts school to hone your craft.

Good luck.
Thanks. I know it's always a good idea to have a back up plan, but I'm considering becoming an RN, because I've been in a medical program at school and next year I will be able to become a cna. Also, the idea of a performing arts school is something I've toyed with, but I'm still weighing all my options.

Dallas would work too- Austin just has more of the CA vibe. If you don't like it there, you *definitely* won't like it here! Austin is prettier and more of a college town. Dallas is more if the old money crew. I UT Austin also has more of a national reputation than most of the Dallas schools, although if you're going for medical after all (not a bad idea!), SMU is a good bet. Let us know what you decide!

Well I know if I become a nurse I know I can work about 4 days out of the week and still make a decent amount of money and also have time to pursue acting But I really never even thought about Austin, I'll look into it and do some research. Again, thanks very much, and I definitely upadate with my decision (:

As a former Texan now living in SoCal, I know this route will work out great for you. You might end up sticking around in the Lone Star state once you see how much opportunity there is out there in the bigger cities . Good luck!!
This is really good advice young lady. Without the right contacts and representation, a young lady of 18 could get eaten alive in LA. Stay in Texas and get some experiance in community theatre and maybe find representation locally that has connections in LA. Nothing beats experiance and this will help you know how to play the game when/if you come to LA. Good luck!

No, I was just making a joking reference to another poster comments. The San Fernando Valley is known for porno production. I in no way would ever suggest something like that to anyone.

Yeah I get that you weren't trying to suggest that. I was just stating that porn is not for me.

I doubt many girls in porn moved to LA with the intention of getting into it. Its one of those things that being far from home, uneducated and unskilled, and broke leads to.

Well..if I moved out there I was planning on going to college there. I wouldn't just move out there. I know I would never resort to that.
