Default Moving to California, Possibly at 18

So I'm still in high school(currently living in Amarillo, Texas), I want to be an actress and I want to move to California.
I'm considering Long Beach, but does anyone have any suggestions on other places? Yes, I've heard that less expensive places are also less desirable, but if you have been to Amarillo, could you please compare your suggestion to the city of Amarillo.

Forget Long Beach. You want to be up in the San Fernando Valley. There's always a need for actresses up there. Once you're 18, you'll find work really quick.

What do you think happens to 18 year old kids from the Midwest that move to LA on a hope and a prayer?

What do your parents, especially your dad, think of your plans?

Is he sending you messages like this:

"Follow your dream"
"Don't let anyone tell you that you'll never make it"
"You'll never know unless you try"

I've been to Amarillo and southern California, for the more depressed areas Amarillo looks like paradise.

You want to be an actress, have you thought about getting into a good school for that as a start?

Well...my parents have always been very supportive of anything I've ever wanted to do. But the thing with my dad is he really wants me to go into the medical field.

Yes, that's what I want to do. I want to get into a good college. I've thought about starting in Texas, but I don't know.
