Default Residents of ElDoCo, and those that love the Rubicon trail

There is a recent push to close the Rubicon trail in the winter, it is currently the only trail open in the wintertime in El Dorado County as ALL OTHERS HAVE BEEN CLOSED to OHV including 4x4s, quads, and snowmobiles. Those who enjoy OHV recreation deserve a place to go just as much as anyone else. They are a vital part of the economy in the area and bring much needed money in the winter, which is generally slow as far as tourism is concerned.

I understand that cross country skiers, snowshoe enthusiasts and hikers like to go to areas that are away from motorized traffic, free from engines and tires and such, but they have the entirety of the forest, with the exception of this one, small trail. I also understand that many are concerned for the environment and the impact that OHV travel has, but let me state that OHV users are some of the most responsible people around. Trail clean ups and maintenance runs are commonplace, OHV users even go so far as to do poop clean up, yes cleaning up any poop that might be left by ALL users. This is a county road that has been used for almost 100 years. It is home to famous outings like Jeep and Jeepers Jamborees.

If you don't want PUBLIC land to be taken away from the PUBLIC please take the time to write a letter, send a fax or Email the county supervisors, making them aware of your feelings.
