Born in the City of Orange and lived in CA for over 40 years before I cashed out and moved to WA. Wish I was back in the Golden State, even with all of its problems. Still have a good life, though, so can't wish for too much more.

Not me born in chicago, moved to california in 8th grade. It was pretty obvious I was not educated for most of my life in California as evidenced by the fact that I was capable of doing Algebra before I was in high school. That was normal where I lived, but in California it was considered 'gifted'. Getting into a UC was no problem what so ever and I am often thankful that I was educated back east for most of the formative years. A good portion of my fellow class men when i was an undergrad went to private schools or had expensive tutors their whole lives.

Dude, I went to public school in Orange County, CA and had to take algebra in ninth grade. So they taught that course in junior high there. When I moved into high school, I don't think either of the schools I went to even offered basic algebra, it was all trig, calculus and geometry and other higher forms of math.

But then again, that was back in the 1970's.

Yea that was back when the schools were good and the demographics were way different. I finished in 2000. The average California senior graduates with out having taken trig or pre calc at all these days. I finished taking Calc and was considered "accelerated". I think you would really be shocked at how much California schools have changed.

Born in San Francisco, great grandparents came there from Ireland in the late 1800s. Lived most of my life in CA. It's home and I love it but am so glad I've been able to move around in my adult years and experience other places....New England, North Carolina, Texas and Washington State. Love California and am proud of my heritage there but I think I belong in the Pacific Northwest.
