Single Dude, 43; Semi-Retired Looking to Move... Where?
Hello Friends -
I am looking to possibly relocate from Florida back to California. I am a former resident of the SF Valley; 90-95, Woodland Hills and Sherman Oaks, back then I was high & dry actor barely paid the rent, and now thanks to 15 years in real estate; I'm fairly well off, no kids, no ex wifes, no alimony, no child support, no debt, etc. I want to move to an area of the US (or another part of the world) where there is a large majority of fit, respectful, high energy single people from 35 years and up. I am seeking a positive social enviornment and nice unspoiled friendly community where people say hello and wave to each other (like what the USA used to be; 1980s). Big city or small city, traffic is not a problem since I mainly work on the internet via my Laptop.
So far my choices are....
Tampa (Hyde Park/SoHo area)
Miami Beach or Coral Gables (I speak passable spanish/Portuguese)
Los Angeles (SF Valley, Westside, South Bay)
San Diego (Mission Beach area)
San Francisco (Downtown or ????)
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Ipanema or Flamengo)
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Bogota, Colombia
Thanks in advance for your input.
Merry Christmas!

Depending on your liking of coastal or not...
Chico would have high energy people...
San Luis Obispo would also..
San Diego traffic is a nightmare
but great climate; but don't live
in the woods..wild fires happen often.
My favorite village.. now growing
but still friendly people..
Fallbrook, inland from Oceanside,
near Temecula.
It must be WONDERFUL to be free,
financially secure and not needing
to leave home to work.
The American Dream.

Carmel, California is beautiful and the people seem to be really friendly. It has a lot of tourists, but hey, anywhere that is nice in California has tourists. Just a thought.

If money is not an issue and you're looking for a lifestyle, just about any good beach area from Malibu down to Pt. Loma. I lived in SFV and OC (HB) previously, I'd think you'll really like the Newport Beach & Laguna Beach area. Of course, you'll have to get a yacht so you can take the ladies to dinner, just tie the yacht on the docks in Newport, Los Alamitos, or Long Beach & walk up to the restaurants. Followed up with an after-dinner cruise of the harbor. Nothing like the gently ocean breez & the rocking motion of the waves make a woman relax. Drive over to Catalina Island for the weekend, do some diving & just walk around Avalon. Fantastic lifestyle.

Glad to see the recommendation of Fallbrook too. I live on the east side of Fallbrook, in Gird Valley, which is part of the Bonsall school district, which is very good (important for resale, even for those without kids!). Moved from Coronado, fleeing the fog, tourists and overpriced real estate. I considered Laguna, bcause of the art scene and the village, but REAL Laguna disappeared a decade ago. It's now all tourists from Los Angeles. So glad I settled in Fallbrook. The weather is about 10 degrees warmer than on the coast and the village keeps getting better. It has a very good art community and a lot of hot rod nuts. There are dozens of clubs and social groups. And it's close to San Diego, OC, LA for museums and hot spots and is near all the major airports for national and internatinal travel. It's also close to the mountains for skiing in the winter. Good spot.

I would recommend Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica, and Newport Beach.
