Default Modesto and surrounding towns schools

We are thinking of relocating to the Modesto area. We have one child that will be a sophomore in HS. any suggestions for HS or ones to stay away from. We don't have to live in Modesto, but don't want more than a 20-30 min. drive into Modesto.

I don't know enough to tell you which high schools to stay away from. But 4 high schools in the area were recently ranked by Newsweek as among the best in the country.

Quote:
Four Stanislaus County campuses made it onto U.S. News & World Report's 2009 list of "America's Best High Schools," which highlights public high schools that serve all students well and focus on those coming from minority and low-income families.

Central Valley High and Ceres High, both in Ceres, Modesto High and Waterford High schools are listed in the magazine's ranking, along with 205 other California high schools.
