Hey guys!
Were at the moment living in London UK and were looking to emigrate to USA. Like the idea of living somewhere by the sea, but REALLY could do with some advise on is the best place.
We don't really want the hustle and bustle anymore (London puts you off after so many years honest) but don't want it to be too quite as it wouldn't feel right.
Also were both self employed so some advise on economy and stuff would be amaze.
Cheers guys,
Lots of love
Claudia & Reiss

The Monterey Peninsula might be a good fit. Its large enough to have good restaurants and shopping but still beautiful and scenic. Its probably one of the loveliest places in the US - the coast line south of there is amazing. The economy is better than most of California as well - it has about 200K people in the area and many of them are quite wealthy. It has quite an international population as well - I ran into many Europeans, Australians and South Africans when I lived there. Plus the cities of the Bay Area are within easy reach (San Jose is about 50 minutes drive, San Francisco about 90 minutes).

Reposting my post from another similar thread:

I hate to break this to you, but you can't just decide to move from the U.K. to the United States. "In general, to be eligible to apply for an immigrant visa, a foreign citizen must be sponsored by a U.S. citizen relative(s), U.S. lawful permanent resident, or by a prospective employer . . . " You can't even visit for longer than 90 days without a visa, and that is under the Visa Waiver Program. It's all very complicated and I'm not an expert on it by any means, but since I belong to other travel forums, I see this question come up often, and know that you must have a job offer from a company in the United States who will sponsor you, you can't just move here and look for a job. If you come visit under the Visa Waiver Program, you cannot legally work.

Anyway, you should start reading here: Visa Types for Immigrants and you might want to peruse this website for expats: Moving To The USA
