Default Clearlake Biking

We are thinking about visiting the Clearlake area. Are there good places to ride bicycles? We are older, can't do tough mountain bike trails--easy ones are OK. We also don't like to ride on narrow, winding roads with no shoulders and lots of traffic. Also, I keep reading about a lot of crime in the area--would two old bike riders be safe?

My wife and I tried to drive around the lake and found the road did not meet all the way around.
Consider a ride up Seventeen Mile in Pebble Beach. They also have nice bike paths thru Monterey on the old rail road beds.

The path in Monterey IS great; been there a couple times. But we may be going through Northern CA this trip, not southern. I was told that Clearlake is a pretty area.

There are a few trails in Lake county that are nice. Remember though that it is a poor county. The roads sometimes leave much to be desired. There's no good road biking around Clearlake. Some can be found around Lakeport though. bike route maps for the area can be found at Lake County Visitor Guide - Bicycling / Bike Paths - Northern California. Unfortunately there is no formal biking club in the area that I've been able to find and I live here!

Good luck in your endeavors and if I may be of use to you feel free to contact me directly. I do not use this site often.
