This reminded me of the "Us Festival" at Glen Helen park in San Bernardino. I didn't go, but I remember all the hype about it.

Does anyone remember the "Street Scene" festivals that were hosted by the City of L.A.? How about the "Country Scene" festival in 1987, also hosted by the City? I went to that one. That was the first time I saw Ricky Skaggs, Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, Steve Wariner, Freddy Fender, and several others in concert. At that time, nobody had even heard of Garth Brooks yet. Hard to believe it was 22 years ago.

Don't remember it but it sounds cool, you are right Garth Brooks wasn't even a name any of us had heard at that time.

I do remember (not so CAlif) seeing Barbara Strisand (spelling) at the Purple Onion in San Francisco in about 1962. No one had heard of her, in fact she was on Ed Sullivan about a month or so later..

Went the Us festival too, three days days of wild partys. A guy ran into our camp and offered $100.00 to drive him anywhere. The next day he was found beaten to death. Sure were glad we didn't get involved.

I just found this neat site that has some photos in the gallery of days gone by in the San Fernando Valley. Here's the link:

they sure did have date shakes, it is the only time our son got sick from eating or drinking I think. Well maybe when he got older he may have gotten sick from drinking but I would rather not think about that.

I do remember the date shake and his drinking one in about 5 minutes, he was maybe 5 or 6..
