There was also a waterslide at the corner of Vanowen and Whitsett in North Hollywood back around the same time. It was part of a family fun center (arcade, mini-golf, etc.), which was part of the "Malibu Castle" family of centers, if I remember correctly. It's all apartments now.
There was also a Don Ricardo's restaurant in Sun Valley, on Vineland Ave. just north of Strathern St. It's still there, but I don't know if the name has changed. I also remember Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant on Sunland, just north of I-5. It's now part of the Acapulco chain. They also had another restaurant on San Fernando Road, next to the 134 Freeway in Glendale, near Griffith Park, if I remember correctly. I don't know what became of that one!
Reading about Alpha Beta reminded me about the old Alan Hamill commercials from years ago. There was even a joke about him at the time: "Did you hear that Alan Hamill died? Tell a friend!"
Remember all those other supermarkets that used to be in the valley? Hughes, Market Basket, Safeway, and Lucky? Basically all that's left is Ralphs, Albertsons, and Vons.

There was a giant slide on Topanga just south of Victory. (This thread is so long, I may have written this already....)
I remember kids sliding down the hill on the west side of Topanga between Parthenia and Nordoff.
How about that big gas leak above Granada Hills around 1973. I think Red Adair was called in to take care of it.
I remember watching the Lakers playoff game from the Forum (1972?) on closed circuit TV from the Valley Music Center (is that what it was called?) that big white domed building on Ventura between Desoto and Winnetka.
Skateboarding down Victory Hill west of Valley Circle around 1975.
Lazy J Ranch on Valley Circle when it was still a dirt road between Bell Canyon and Ingomar.
Skateboarding in the "Toilet Bowl" on Platt Hill just south of Cohassett.

What about Devonshire Downs??? Does anyone remember that place? They had concerts in the 70's there, but I remember it for the Halloween haunted houses that scared the **** out of me when I was young!

The link below are a bunch of Youtube videos of Jimi Hendrix performing at Devonshire Downs in 1969. I think Tull and Janis Joplin played there too during this Newport Pop Festival...not sure.

I remember seeing Black Flag, Fear, and a whole bunch of other hard core punk bands at Devonshire Downs back in the early 1980s.

Unfortunately, I'm too young to have gone to concerts there. There is no way my parent's would have let me! But I do remember going to see bands play at The Country Club in Reseda. Don't recall the bands, but I do know the place was filled with punks and skinheads, all slamdancing!

Isn't the Country Club the old Reseda Theater? I went to the Reseda Theater as a kid. Later I went to the County Club to see hard core punk bands too but I also saw Chuck Mangione and a Doors tribute band.

I'm not sure if it was called the Reseda Theater, but you definitely have the right one in mind. I think it's now a church of some sort! Strange. It was also featured in Boogie Nights as the disco club they all went to. Love it!

Okay, I was actually talking about a different theatre/club. It was actually on Sherman Way, east of Reseda Blvd. This is the one I used to go to.

I think it is the same club - It looks like I was mistaken. The Country Club must have been the old Sav-On (and not the Reseda Theater) which is visible in the 1963 postcard. Note the tall wall.
Looks like that is it from the Google Maps Street View:
reseda, ca - Google Maps
Must be my SomeZheimers (my early form of AllZheimers).
