I'm familiar with the neighborhoods.
The areas I grew up in are still nice today as well. But there are many nice neighborhoods that unfortunately happen to be in LAUSD territory.

It's from Cadillac to Sawyer, between Robertson and La Cienega, that's been pretty bad for years, although, from what I've heard, even that neighborhood's gotten considerably better than it was back in the 80's, and early to mid 90's.

Cadillac-Corning is the 2nd worst neighborhood on the west side next to Oakwood, and the only other "bad" west side area besides Oakwood that would be considered a bad area if it were located in another part of L.A. Have no idea what it's like now, other than it being called "La Cienega Heights" or "Palms Adjacent" in some real estate ads of late.

Don't forget the Mar Vista Gardens Projects(I think that's what they're called), right off of Braddock. I've heard stories of bicyclists being assaulted on the part of the bike path that runs by those projects, even in broad daylight.

Yeah, I've also seen Beverlywood Adjacent, to describe that area, in real estate ads lately. LOL!

Never had any friends who lived in the projects, but I've had friends who lived in Del Rey right near the projects near Braddock and Inglewood, and friends who lived in Cadillac-Corning, and from what I saw and from what they told me Cadillac-Corning is definitely scarier. That stretch of the bike path has had problems since it was built as it is isolated from street and public view. Personally I'd feel safer walking down that stretch of Inglewood Blvd. at night than I would walking down Cadillac Ave. at night. MV Gardens has been somewhat safer since many of the gang members got kicked out. It's much easier to evict someone from public housing than from private housing.

I wonder what happened to them after that. There was a Will Wright's on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena in that little arcade across the street from what used to be Robinson's but now is a Target. And also in that arcade was Stottlemeyer's sandwich shop, which named their sandwiches after celebrities. I believe it was there until the early 1970's and their sandwiches were incredibly good. No Subway or Quiznos of today could compare. (At least Vroman's still stands, which is amazing, considering their competition.)

You know it is sad so many today have never even tasted the sandwhiches from places Stottlemeyers or in Arcadia, Anthony's or OJs and on Washington Blvd (altadena, Pasa border) the Grinder. They actaully think Subway and Quiznos are great...

One of my favorites is Lucchese's Deli in Sun Valley. If I remember correctly, they've been there since the 60s, and have been making great sandwiches ever since. If you go for lunch, get there early (by 11 a.m.), or you'll have to wait in a pretty long line (it's worth it, though).

In Eagle Rock, Highland Park it was Albany or Cleveland, eventually they added Clinton. Albany only had 4 numbers.

I remember the Dog House on the Sunset Strip. It's long gone now, I believe the Union 76 Station next door expanded onto the site.
