It depends on what you think "good" is, what kind of job you might get, what kind of area you want to live in. Small town or big city? coastal, desert, valley, or mountains? Would you live near your sister? Where is that?
I am from Fresno, CA, and now live in Denver. Comparing the 2 as far as living without family around, Denver is much better. Here there are drop in child care centers that are a life-saver if you have a doctor's appointment, or something and can't take the kids with you. The rec centers and a day care center near me also have parents night out programs. There are also a lot of other people here who have no family here, so you can lean on each other. In my experience, CA is not a great place to live without family, but all I know about is Fresno, and I had family there, so I didn't have to worry about it.
