Default Camp Pendleton

Just two questions about the base.

We all know that military installations can attract crime/prostitution in nearby cities, in the case of CP, do Marines on their passes go for "fun" in the San Diego area, or Oceanside?

Second... does anyone know what the address to the 2 main entrances to the base are? I've googled, and haven't actually found an address. My reason for wondering is because I'm intrigued by having a large wedge of undeveloped land between 2 heavily populated cities, and am unable to easily tell what the entrances would be, going from a map. I've got a pic of the enterance, just no idea what the address is!

Oh, bonus q - some site claimed that if you get a pass, you're pretty free to drive around much of the base - can't find the link, but the page was as of 2009 - surely this isn't right!

Wow! I thought I was the only one who had a fascination with CP, and for that reason, it is the last developed area of socal.

I love the rolling canyons and the miles of beaches. I have also noticed that it is usually cloudy along that section for some reason. Wierd!

A good amount of them (Marines) go to San Clemente and Oceanside, to do their drinking and stuff.

I have no idea about the entrances though

First crime and prostitution are everywhere not because a military base is there. Let's not forget that large country below you that has tons of people coming in.
Second: Yes Marines from CP do go to oceanside and San diego for fun. There is also a Marine base in Diego

To find the entrances look at the freeway signs it will say CP next right. There is an address but not really well known because it doesn't need to be.
That huge wedge of land is not somewhere you want to stroll around, you may walk into a rifle range or get run over by a tank or vehicle in same size

And the last question you can get a pass but it is usually to one specific spot not a pass to roam where ever you please on base. If you get pulled over and your not where your supposed to be you can be kicked off base. maybe even barred from base. Just remember when you go on base your subject to search at military police descretion with out reason (it's on a sign at the front gate). your on a federal installation not public property anymore.

Default entrances

the entrances are in the "BAT-CAVE". If you have no reason to be on the base, then stay away, otherwise you're just looking for trouble. Security is beefed up since 9-11 and the MPs don't need an excuse to pull you over, if you look at them wrong that would be enough.

Don't worry, I live on the other side of the world, if I ever were to visit Socal, I'd like to take the I-5 just to see this huge amount of undeveloped land wedged between 2 parcels of urban sprawl, maybe even go to the main gate and turn around, but it would be pretty low on my priority list.

Most of my knowledge of city planning comes from Sim City, so I could only really go by the fact that ingame, building a military installation attracts crime nearby. Some great source, isn't it? As for the base enterances, it's something I'd look up on google streets, but as there is no coverage for the I-5 corridor within and near the base, I'm stuck. What about an I-5 exit number?
