Default Moraga, California

I am planning on moving to Moraga California and attending St. Mary's college of California. But I am not sure familiar with the area. So I was just wondering what there is to do in Moraga, and is there anything I should be concerned about.

Hi Shay - I live near st. mary's college. Moraga is a suburb noted for its rolling hills, million dollar homes, and top-rated public school system. Needless to say it's not very exciting for a college student - most students are involved in campus activities or go to near-by berkeley to hang-out, see bands, go to cafes etc. or they go to near-by walnut creek for shopping etc. Both locations are 15 minutes or so away. There are lots of recreational things to do, and san francisco is only a short way too.

I forgot - there's not much to be worried about other than the expensiveness. Crime etc. is not really a problem other than normal theft issues found in the suburbs. You can also get by okay with a bicycle as the bart (subway) station is just a few miles away.

My son graduated St. Mary's. You're going to love it! Moraga is a very safe area and St. Mary's is a very safe campus. There is not a whole lot going on in Moraga but larger cities with lots of action are very close by. Also, you can take the BART to San Francisco to go play. I hope you have a wonderful experience there!

Moraga is clean, beautiful, and safe--albeit a bit boring. I should know, I live there! I am the first to admit it's boring side. Lots of green rolling hills, cricket sounds, and for shopping you can really let loose at the Safeway market or TJ Maxx! Whoo-hoo!

We are about a 30 minute drive to S.F., and it is so safe here that my kids play outside with the other neighboorhood children till after dark each night. The deer and wild turkeys hang out on my lawn, and the cows graze on the hill right behind my house. It really is a nice town.

My only complaint is that it is very conservative politically--republican mostly. I spent many years in San Francisco and am a diehard moderate democrat, and often feel like the only one here. Lots of children, concern for national safety and allegance to over priced swim clubs to be found. Sort of like Mayberry if Mayberry were filled with SUVs, swim clubs, and swim club families.

Cheers!
Lisa

FYI - Moraga is an inner ring suburb of SF. Suggest reposting your inquiry on the SF forum.
