English graduate looking for work
Hello there, I have just graduated with a 1st class honours from Leeds Met University in England. I studied animation and special effects but i specialise in using 3ds max to create visualisations.
I am looking for a change in lifestyle, and would love an opportunity to work and live in the California area, either in my studied area or any other are that becomes available.
I am a friendly, sincere and happy individual and wonder if any one has any advice for me???
Kind Regards
JOFF

There have been a lot of people from England posting on the CA and LA CD forums lately - and a lot of responses have been provided.
Do a search on permutations of {England, London}, {sick, tired, depressed}, {rain, gloomy, dreary}, {movies, television}, {dream, dreamed, dreaming}, {California, Los Angeles}, {beaches, girls, sun, sand, party}, {affordable, cheap}, {trendy, artsy, diverse, funky, hip}
All posts have at least one word from each set in them.

You need to be doing a lot more research than posting general questions here. There is a RECESSION. Unemployment is at almost 10%. Electronic Arts just laid off hundreds of people. You need to identify the employers would would hire someone with your skills set,. then contact them directly to find out about the hiring prospects. This year and next will be very very tough. I wish you well but do your homework before you hop on a plane. I respectfully disagree with the person who told you to come to LA and implied you'd find work in your field. I hope they're right but that is not the reality I see. Good luck.

Remember also that you need a visa, and note that a tourist visa does not permit you to work in US. In fact it's very difficult to get approval for visas that allow you to seek work. You cannot simply move to the US and get a job and assume everything is going to be okay. You should research what the requirements are to immigrate and work in the US.
