And we need the local jobs, even if they are just service/retail jobs it would be progress over what's here now.

Tehachapi is nowhere near those cities, jackass, don't comment when you don't have a clue. It's east of Bakersfield.

Tehachapi is close enough to halfway between Lancaster and Bakersfield. About 40 miles from Lancaster up the back road, or a bit further via freeway, vs. about 33 miles from Bakersfield.

I have lived in Lancaster & Palmdale since 1976 and I am still here. We had one issue of crime on our property approximately 17 years ago. Someone stole the tires (all 4) and rims from our mustang in our driveway. We concluded that it was someone that was familiar with our schedule and knew us. We have NEVER had any other problems here. Our city officials have been working VERY hard over the last several years cleaning up blighted areas. Actually they have been purchasing them, tearing them down and building beautiful properties to replace them. Many people have lived here for many years and realized when we statrted having problems it was because of people moving into our area not those that were already here so the cities have been progressing towards removing them. Our crime statistics have gone way down and we used to have the title of "Largest Child Abuse Rate in LA County". That title has not belonged to us for several years now thanks to the community involvement of many individuals deciding they had HAD ENOUGH. This community has MANY active business members and volunteers that have made a HUGE difference for many people here! Those of us who live here didn't move when things started to change. We took our community back! Do we still have some work to do? Yes we do, but we aren't leaving, we are staying, the people that are involved here are WONDERFUL and it won't take you long to find out who they are because they are EVERYWHERE! MANY THANKS to our city officials for making this a wonderful place to live. Concerts in the park, dog parks, so many FREE family activities, this is a great valley. Like the other party stated, it is better on the Westside. The income level is higher on the westside so that explains it. Check out the city websites, VERY active community with many families that have raised 2 generations or more here!
