Default Placerville- Well-aged or just old?

I have a friend moving to Placerville or surrounding area from Florida. They wanted to know if it was a comfortable place to retire to. We are checking out the statistic on the data site but would welcome some residents opinions or insights. Thanks.

I was under the impression it snowed a considerable amount?

I doesn't snow in Placerville except on unusual occasions. They get what we call polite snow. It snows a 1/4 of an inch, you run out and take pictures and it's gone in 4 hours.

Relatively mild four-season climate, which is rare in California.

I like Placerville although I have never lived there I drive through it frequently. I think it would be a perfect place to retire if one enjoyed the mountains near by and relatively close proximity to Lake Tahoe. The wine country around Plymouth is only a pleasant short drive away. In brief there is a lot to do in the surrounds as well as in the town itself.

And it is snowing there as I type.

And of course yesterday it snowed 6 inches in an hour and a half here at the 2000' level. It is mostly gone 24 hours later though.

A couple years ago Where To Retire magazine rated Cameron Park (just down the hill from Placerville) their number one place to retire in the US. Just thought I'd throw that out there even though this thread is so old.
