Don't worry, Europe, and the UK especially is going to follow suit.

If property is as a bargain here as you say it is, then you should be jumping on those "deals" rather than wasting your time talking about it... but I heard Compton is not the best place to live so buyer beware. (Also, doesn't the Euro have a higher exchange rate, maybe that has something to do with it too?... hmmm?)

It was this way just 1-2 years ago but both the pound and the EURO have begun to level off with the dollar. The last time I was in London, the pound was worth nearly twice as much as the USD. Now, it's about a quarter wealthier, and the EURO down even more. 50E is now about $63,000.

First of all. I can't see 50,000 Euros buying anything other than a government auction property in the LA area. You can have your very own crack house or meth lab.

As for just in general why is property so much cheaper in America. Supply and demand, simple as that. We are a much younger country so a much higher percentage of land is undeveloped. Also, just compare the size of the countries. We got a whole lot more land to work with, period.

We have also had some recent home auctions where the starting price will be this amazing low amount. Kind of gets everyone excited about the prospect of buying into the American dream at a major discount. Then at the auction you find that the place is bid up into an amount well above the original figure.

Have also noticed when you make an offer on a home that has been on the market for months all of a sudden great interest in the chosen property happens at the same time and amazingly you are in a price war with a dozen other people.

Try looking at prices in Ft. Myers area of Florida. With the exchange rate, the Europeans should be all over it.

great points, of course no one can buy anything decent for that kind of money..

Too many people see ads for such and such at only XXX dollars and believe these figures. I see this everyday as a travel agent. My clients will see an ad for let's say Alaska, prices starting at $429.00 per person for a week cruise. that price is for the first sailing in May or the last in Sept and doesn't cover all the hidden costs. Of course the client wants to go in July when the rates start at twice that much...
drives me crazy.

Default Prices in America , MY view

As you have read on this forum . The places that are cheaper have BAD climates, sweating like in the Amazon in summer, or as my wife from Russia says, it is like East Siber in winter . I have tolerated 55 yrs in Chicago. It does stink. And per The Weather Channel, Boston and N.Y. are worse. L.A. county has 10 million cars so that is not where I would want to move along with the "diverse people " that some are proud of, drug capitals , wierd or people with attitudes. I read that Finland has a very high school achievement level. They I believe DO NOT have the diversity. If you want a winning team, the players have to be on the same page. Different cultures do not fit in. That is why this is a violent country. I don't belive in beating women or **** fighting etc. That's just my views. cheers.
