We have heard you spew your Texas pride all over this site!!! Over and Over and over one more time!
We all know you cant stand Californians and you wish they would all leave your Texas paradise... and we don't have to look far to find any proof of your beliefs. The proof is that you flock to all the Texas and California threads and post after post after post, stating all the same thing!
Us Californians know that many Texans cannot stand us because many of us have "cashed" out on the real estate market in Cali and are living large in other states like Texas. Then, once more, many Texans Generalize this to all Californians having it so easy! What it all spells is Jealousy.... you all had to work hard to pay your mortgage, while many Californians bought a home in 1999 and sold between 2002 and 2007 and got RICH!
So, maybe, just maybe, Texas is known for their Southern Hospitality... but that all comes to an end when they find out you are from California!
So, keep your Wonderfully CHEAP Texas, Us Cali lovers will keep our beauty
Cali and move on with your life! STOP the hate!

A graphic helps (Substitute Houston or Dallas for Denver....probably similar curve.) The data points are an index, not value of home in dollars. The curve shows relative run up in prices. (We sold our home in California in June 2006.)

Sweety, I don't "hate" all Californians. I have MANY friends FROM California. They just happen to have a better attitude than yours .
You also along w/ several others have been all over the Texas forums and many others spewing garbage you know nothing about. Many of us on the Texas forums even tried to HELP YOU!!! You wanted to find some programs to do w/ little ones and several of us gave you the information. Sorry, but it just gets VERY OLD hearing the same bs from people that don't know what they are talking about. You moved to the worst place possible in the state (one that I would NEVER recommend to ANYONE) yet you make blanket statements based on your few months in the most foul place in Texas on the ENTIRE state. Just like California our state is HUGE and has MANY different areas. I'd bet I know MUCH more about California than you do Texas
No honey, we don't give a rats behind that people in California cashed out. Good for them. I know that you may be jealous of them as you were not one of them and even here in Texas your having a hard time. I could "cash out" with my own home here in Texas IF I wanted to move but I don't want to nor have a desire to. I'm not chasing dreams like many people in California are trying to do to find a "happy place"........ I've found mine or better yet I've always had it BTW, there are just as many people in California that have had to work hard to get to where they are and are NOT "RICH". Baby, you really do need to get out more often . Just read on this forum how many of your fellow natives from California are STRUGGLING be it there or somewhere else. And if your "living large" in Midlothian............ whatever. HAHAHAHAAHAAA (That's a good one....... lmao). BTW, if the people in California were all "RICH"....... why not bail them all out yourselves???? Why depend on money from other states like Texas to do it? If they were all "RICH" why can't they afford to stay there instead of trying to find a place they can afford to retire?
I'm not the one spewing "hate" as it is plainly evident who hates whom on here. It is the folks in California that hate us in Texas.

I am sorry to hear that you are so miserable here in Texas. Texas is what you make of it. I live just outside of Houston and have been extremely happy here since I moved from California. I haven't experienced any of the hostility you describe receiving. I am sure it occurs but I just haven't experienced it personally. Everyone I have met have been extremely kind. Its a different kind of life here in Texas and you have to be able to adapt to it not try to mold it into California because it will never meet those expectations.
Just wanted to add my two cents for those who have had a positive experience.

Call me crazy but, I don't consider slow growth healthy ...
It is, afterall, slow. There's lots of non-coastal regions around the country that haven't experienced much a bubble but ...
Those homes still appreciated more than Texas. There's no escaping the fact that Texas home appreciation is at the bottom of the barrel.

Let's get things straight:
first: I never said you "Hate" californians , not once!
second: you cant just read about cali and vacation there a handful of times and know the ins and outs of Cali, more than someone who has Cali in their heart!
third: I am definately Jealous of those that bought when real estate was cheaper in Cali, but not those that decided to "cash" out and go somewhere else. I was too young in 1999 to buy a home. And that's not my fault. This is one of the reasons you see many many young families coming to Texas. The other reason people come to Texas from Cali is that they did in fact cash out and want a bigger home than their 1200 sq ft bungalo in Cali.
fourth: I said "many" people come here to live large. I never said I came here and am living large in Midlothian. I did what I could. I am not trying to pump myself up here! saying, "I am better than you because... yada, yada, yada" So, go back re-read... never said ALL people from Cali are rich, I said, many Texans think we are and you are Jealous of these assumptions!
Most Californians do not hate Texans, and I can't speak for them, but they probably don't want to live in the wasteland that Texas is.

Ahm........... maybe you need to go back and reread your post.
First: Maybe you did not say I "hate" but you did say, "We all know you cant stand Californians". In my book "can't stand" and "hate" are pretty even.
Second: I've been to California much more than just a "few time". I do find it odd that someone that has only been in Texas for a few months can make such blanket statements about the ENTIRE state. Some on here spewing the hatred towards Texas and Texans have never even been. I'd say that I as a native and one that has traveled to all corners of the state pretty well know it.
Third: To those that don't know your previous posts they would assume you are one that "cashed out" when you say, " many of us have "cashed" out on the real estate market in Cali and are living large in other states like Texas." Maybe the correct wording you should have used could have been, Some of my fellow Californians got lucky and were able to cash out".
Fourth: Same as above. Not really two seperate points.
Finally, it is VERY EVIDENT on these forums that many Californians do not like Texas or Texans. I myself have been treated VERY rudely in California the minute someone finds out I am from Texas. Many times I have been in a shop and had someone waiting on me eager to make a sale and then when they get my id or ask where I am from and they hear, "Texas" there is a sudden chill in the room. They suddenly lose interest but they still want me to spend my money in their stores. I know that this is not the majority of those in California but it does NOT set a good example.
BTW, be thankful for that Texas "wasteland"....... it has helped support this country many times and pull it out of financial trouble.

It's nothing personal. I just don't like the way Texas does things. Obviously it works for Texans but it just doesn't work for me.
It's not just the conservative philosophy but everything that goes with it. Business gets whatever it wants at all costs. God forbid you mention the word union or workers' rights because many Texans go ballistic when you do ...
Yeah ... many Californians did use their homes as ATM machines and, when the market recovers they'll probably do it again ...
And that will mean big market run ups and big market crashes but ... you know what?
It's probably better to have that ATM machine than none at all.

FYI, I'm PRO union. My dad was a Teamster and a steward for the union for MANY years. TONS of people in Texas were, have been, are in unions. My husband has also been a member of a union back in the day when the grocery stores were union. The demise of unions can't be blamed on Texas........ that is pretty well the same across the nation as businesses lobbied and paid out big money to our government leaders.
Business also does not get "whatever it wants". I WISH that were true. BIG businesses, yes (that is the same in every state). Small businesses, no. Granted IN Texas small businesses do get a bit of an edge up w/ lower taxes on businesses and no state income tax. However, it is the small businesses that have to pay into the state franchise tax. For those that are not aware this is NOT a tax for just "franchises" cause it that were true I would not have to pay it. Our esteemed (cough, cough) leader got into office as gov by saying he would do away with it. Once in he never did a single thing to abolish that tax. His "esteemed" succesor (cough, cough) has not either. As you can tell I am NOT a fan of either the prez or gov of Texas. I can proudly say that I have NEVER voted for ANY Bush ! There are a lot more Native Texans that are opposed to him and always have been.
